Clean-up Software

Hello everyone,
Can any of you tell me if there is a utility that scans the contents of Pocket PC's to identify Orphaned files and performs registry clean-ups. I use Norton's Clean Sweep for my PC. I was wondering if there was something like that for my AXIM.

All the best,
StephenJ

Yes there is. You can get Remover at: http://s-k.al.ru/wincepdaru.html#remover
Scroll down a little bit to find the download link (site is not in English). Download and extract, then copy the version for Arm directly to the folder of your choice on the Axim, no install is necessary.

There's only 1 problem

It's an .exe file, not a cab. Also I posted with a question regarding this, and a member said this is the only program that he was forced to do a hard reset on his ax. User beware.

Wow...that was quick!

Gdio53 and aximluvah,
Thanks for the replies.
I'm a little concern with the "User Beware" thing. Guess I can live with a little clutter.

Thanks again,
StephenJ

I've been using Remover for quite a while without any problems. I think the functionality that comes with it far outweighs any single hard reset experience. Clutter is bad. Really, really bad. Your Axim will thank you.

You can also try the clean-up program here:

Speed Clean

Yes, it is an executable, but it's a PPC executable and will only run on a PDA, there is not install/uninstall, just delete the program from the device and it's gone.

I've been using it for quite a while and haven't run into any problems with it, but I may not be as aggressive in cleaning out clutter as other users, I don't delete everything it suggests.

I was probably the guy who said to watch out for this program. I should qualify that. I was using a version that was older than the current version. I have learned since then to make periodic backups. I have been using the latest version of remover for a few days now and it seems more stable than the .85 version that I had.

Still, even the author of the software warns to beware. So use it at your own risk. I had been using remover for months before it forced a hard reset on me so watch out. Just back up your ax!

I use remover, and got the most recent version about 2 months ago. I've used it on a weekly basis since then with no issues. You can also try SpeedClean (which I also have) or Cleaner+ which seems to do fairly well.
