Another fine hack by me: make SkyFire run on non-phone devices

Currently, SkyFire (see for example the roundup HERE for more info) isn't capable of running on non-phone devices: it doesn't even start. This means you can't run it on anything Windows Mobile not containing a phone: Dell Axims, pre-phone (or even current; for example, the 110 / 210 series) HP iPAQ's etc.

My hacks to the rescue! Download THIS archive and unzip the two DLL's into \Windows on your Pocket PC. Don't be afraid - they won't do any harm. They just make your Pocket PC pretend to be a phone. After this, SkyFire will work.

If the non phone device needs to be soft reset for any reason while the DLL's are there, will this affect the device at all. I hought I read that someone said that if the nonphone device was reset, you would need a pc to remove the DLL's to get the device working normally again. I have an ioaq 210, and while I want to try this, I do not want this hassle if this is the case.

here is the link I am referencing.

I've been using my iPAQ 210 for months with the two DLL's on (for Jbed; it was yesterday that it occurred to me that the two files were also responsible for SkyFire having always run on the iPAQ) - no extra resets have ever been necessary.

let me re-ask this. The poster form brighthand said that if the device needs to be soft reset for any reason with the DLL's in there, then the ipaq will hang and you will need to have access to a PC to remove these files form the ipaq to get it going again.

Have you had to soft reset your 210 for any reason (or any application) while the DLL's were in the ipaq, and if so, has the device hang on restart because of the DLL's or come back up and running with no problem.

Yes, I've reset my iPAQ 210 several dozen times with the DLL's on it in the last few months. No reboot problems.
