Hey all,

I use the built-in calculator for currency conversion, and I recently noticed that it's not working properly anymore. If I close the program down completely, then it loses the rates that I entered for Canada/US exchange rates.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? I don't know which file stores the calculator data, and I didn't notice when it stopped working properly. Part of me thinks it has something to do with Battery Bar, but that's just a hunch.

Thanks!

Russ

Have you tried a soft reset? I find this solves a lot of issues with my Axim.

I have exactly the same problem,

I enter exchange rates and as soon as I quit the calc application, it forgets the exchange rates.

I've soft reset many times, and restored from backup after a HARD reset, to no avail..

Any help MUCH appreciated...

It's a bug in the Calculator application. I had the problem on my Loox also.

Scrolling left/right in the drop down currency selector box is also pretty ropey and causes screen corruption.

Microsoft have an area for posting bug reports in their products on their Web site. Not sure if they do anything with them, but hey, it passes the time filling them in!

Cheers

Also try mortgageCALC. It is a free app that is very powerful. It will do currency conversions, along with other conversions like temp, area, distance speed. As well you can use it for your mortgage or loan payments.

Another nice feature is that if you have a calculation you make a lot, you can put it in there and it will save it for use whenever.

But the best part of mortgageCALC is that it is free. You can find it on handango. It is a big program, but it is so worth it. I use about as much as my today screen, hehehe.

I noticed that only some currency rates don't save. For me, the EURO rate won't save and always revert back to exactly 1. Has anyone heard from Dell on this?

update

I have discovered that the calculator won't save the decimal portion of a rate exchange when you close and restart the program. The program will lop off the decimal portion and just save the whole number portion. For example, if you set the rate to 1.3, all works fine while still in the program. If you close and restart, the rate is 1. If you set to 5.7, it will change to 5. If you set a rate less than 1, an error message appears when you restart and try to calculate.

I use Calc98 myself

http://www.freewareppc.com

I got it there, it's freeware, and it is very nice, it does conversions of just about any kinds, allows custom conversoin, and has binary, octal, hex, base whatever support.

It's a nice full featured scientific calculator app. Nice for a little bit different reasons but still nice :)

Has anyone got an Axim where this works? I'd like to be able to get this working.
