Another Problem With Activesync!

This active sync is getting me SOOOO mad evertime i wanna sync i CANT! disconnects i just got my previous prob straightened out!, it starts looking for changes then disconnects! Tried reinstalling activesync, i can only connect as a guest. I tried using active synce toggle, also tried deleting that aspic file or watever that file was in the windows directory. even if i tell it not to sync it syncs and disconnects! HELP!

Try to close ActiveSync on the Axim then place in caddy. I had a similar problem.

active sync isnt open on startup it opens itself when it connects... what is the process that monitors the com port?

i just tried changing name of the device and repartnering it still no luck, it shows that its something with the ax.

im going tjo try a temp hard reset see if it works

maybe i can copy a fresh active sync app file to my existing MS AS

ok i set it to sync with 2 comps and its working, what do i do when office outlook says "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location. The .DLL file for the information service could not be found. MAPI was unable to load the information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured."

Ive tried repairing it and also reinstalling it but it just doesnt work.

Ive installed Outlook 2000 from the dell cd but everytime it syncs it says attention required... what should i do?

also i was NEVER able to sync with microsoft outlook sucessfully

ok after installing Outlook 2000 on the pc from the dell disk, well still didnt work!, But i took off calendar, still none synced except the files and favs... well i figured screw this and dled intelisync for msn to sync with my address book, calendar, and tasks, and no unfortunatly it didnt sync mail :( It synced all but tasks which it said an error writing to msn.

So now i try to sync with activesync again, IT WORX! Unfortunatly i turn on the calendar syncing and none of them work angain :crooked: ,so i have to perform intelisync again. WORX, i remind you that i tried soft reseting the ax between each attempt.

For others who have this prob you should try this as long as you have MSN. Thanks for reply joel :)

NOW IM MAD! i just softreseted my ax and it CLEARED ALL THE data off it! i had a backup from a week ago but of course ACTIVESYNCS NOT WORKING! I just have the worst fricken LUCK!, tried doing what i did b4 still no luck!

heres what it does NOW: when i create a new partnership its all fine i select it to sync tasks, then suddenly when it goes to sync TASKS isnt on there, then i go into options and it doesnt detect a syncable program!, i tried reinstalling AS no luck@!..

Activesync is such a piece of #$%^ that I have given up on syncing my Axim and also on using the Axim infra red. I have all of the same problems you have and so do many others. I know it is a fault in activesync.

I was able to sync with my work laptop using the infra red under window 2002 but not ever under windows 2003. When I place my Axim near the laptop the laptop pops open the icon that informs me it can see a wireless device. I can then use this utility to transfer data back and forth from the Axim. Yet when I start activesync, should be called inactivesync, it never tries to connect with the IR port even though it says it is available. And when I use the USB cable I get the guest user need new partnership problem. So to keep from getting so worked up that I get a heart attack I just have accepted that activesync doesn't. I am sure the folks at Dell know all about this but they probably are not willing to invest in correcting a Microsoft error or maybe are technically unable to do so. As for M$ I doubt they care if it works or not. After all they could have debugged it before they sold it and they already got their money.

woohoo 2nd reply, and its something i can agree on, is IR as quick as USB activesync?, well that is if you ever got it to work :p

I might just consider doing that, when you enter its directory does it read it as a HDD? by that i mean can you open files as if it was a normal HDD or floppy.

Im planning on getting a irda for my pc to sync with a crappy palm w/o cradle or cable

ive tried everything as you can see ^^^^^^^^^^^

if their was another program to sync ide be on that think like flys on SHITake' mushrooms, of course :p

I installed WisBar advanced, and there is a menu option which allows Activesync to be closed before putting in cradle. Since I have been doing this I have had no problems. Activesync is alive and well all the time unless closed. Even when it is closed it wakes up when put in cradle and works fine.

if you are refering to the open progs in the menu, well it doesnt pop there either, it only pops up when connected and it hides itself, no i cant see it, but i see it on the today bar as its status
