Mad ActiveSync FRUSTRATION

Can anyone help me with this???????????????

I "stupidly" upgraded to WM2003, which I'm now sorry I did, and cant get ActiveSync to stop trying to sync. That wouldnt be a bad thing when it was on, but it tries to do this even when I turn it OFF!!!!!! What the heck is going on here? The ring tones of a connection that tries to start and stop is making me nuts. I'm about ready to throw my Axim out the window....

Please help

Well....I'm on the phn Dell "India" Tech Support. After the first tech hung up on me, this guy is telling me that what I am experiencing is std operating procedure in WM2003. If he's correct, that really sucks. He told me the only way to stop this is to disconnect the USB cradle from my laptop.....

On the Laptop, open Activesync. Select Tools/Options/Schedule and change the top section to "Manually." In fact, I have them ALL set to Manually myself. That way I get to control Activesync.

I also had some problems with activesync. I did like review team and set the sync to manual and now I can sync with IR. I still have not managed to make it stop the "you need to establish a partnership" problem. It does not matter how many times I establish a partnership after one or two syncs it wants to establish a new partnership all over again.

I had the problem also, but since I changed everything to manual, and shut ActiveSync down before placing back in cradle to sync. For some strange reason shutting down Active Sync has prevented the problems from arising again.

I have not tried to see if this fixed my guest problem but I just found this on the Dell forum and it registerd the DLL as if it were not already registered.

Quote:
I ran the following from the RUN menu: \WINNT\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32 MSXML3.DLL

and it registered the dll ...now my activesync works...crazy...thanks to the members in the forum for your help.

Oh, I got the fix from a post entitled RE: Activesync - Guest User PROBLEM - Dell Unresponsive

Thanks Wengerp for the suggestion!

portmgr, have you tried using Activesync toggle? It's a free application for your pc that allows you to actually turn off activesync and turn it back on as needed. I too had similar problems, this toggle program works great. Give it a shot...

MMP:

Thanks for the advice. I just downloaded the product and have disabled ActiveSync. I'm hoping that this will "cure" the problem. WIll post later to let others know about my success or failure.

Thanks again...

Well the "establish a new partnership" problem is still with me. I guess I just will have to get used to being "guest".
