free fat16 format utility?

i've searched and searched but cant find a free format utility for FAT16. how can i format my sd card for FAT16??

You can get a card reader, and hook it into your computer. I can format with my notebook with the built in utility.

under windows XP, and windows ME, i can format them using FAT, and FAT32. i dont see any option for FAT16, unless thats FAT

I have used this utility before to format a storage card from my Ax. It has a free trial that you can use. Hope this works.

there also is a way to format at a windows prompt but you would need a card reader adn i dont remember the exact command lines, try searching on google

i've heard that FAT16 is a better format for SD cards. i dont really know much about the FAT system, but i thought i'd try. i am getting a pretty large compacity sd card... 512 MB, so i'm not sure if thats the best format. people seem to be in debate with each other. some people say dont format it at all. i dont know what to believe. all i know is that i had an sd card that was on the BAD list of happycheesecake's list of BAD SD cards, and when i formated it in FAT32, it never gave me a problem as long as i wrote the files with my card reader. i'm rambling now...
