Remote Control Error

Hi,

I just bought a Remote control program (TV remote controller 5.5 from PDAwin.com) for my Axim and when I try to use it I get the following error message "socket() error = 10009". Does anyone know what the error means?

Also can anyone recommend a good remote program for the Axim?

BTW, the NoviiRemote for PPC doesn't seem to like being removed. When installing it puts the program on three times and wont remove all the programs when you use the program remove option. I had to do a system restor to get it off. I am new at PPC so I hadn't found a way around it yet.

Thanks,

NoviRemote probably wasn't installed three times but had one .exe and two .lnk files. You could have used File Explorer to find the .lnk and simply delete them.

Most remote control programs don't work well on the X5 because the IR is weak.

.......but PDAwin works great!

I haven't had a single problem with mine. And no problems with weak Ir if you use a CF-Ir Extender.

Do a search on pdawin and you'll find all sorts of information on the program.

It was kinda wierd though, I kept installing it and reinstalling it and the more i did the longer i could go with out the error. I will keep messing with it. I hope to get it to work. When I did use it I found I got a good 10 foot range from it.

Messing around with it I think I found the problem. I think my belkin inferad keyboard driver messes with the compatibility of the IR and PDAwin. I am going to test it out now.

If thats the problem I have to either find a new driver for the keyboard or Figure out which program I like more, and I think the remote software is going to be scrapped if I cant make it work because I nee the keyboard more:crooked:

Upon further investigation I find that my Belkin Wireless keyboard drivers do not cause the conflict. Its the Veo Photo Travel CF camera driver that causes the conflict. That was surprising since that software doesn't really mess with the IR port but something in there screws it up. Well at least I will have my remote back and still be able to use my keyboard:D

Thanks for the comment guys, you got me motivated to investigate the problem since other people have the PDAwin software working. I hope this helps other people out now that I went through the headache;) But thanks again for the comments.

In your PDAwin software click Options > Output > and make sure that you have "Built in IR transmitter" checked, if you are not using a CF-Ir Extender Card.

The Camera uses the CF Slot and so does PDAwin if you select "External XX CF transmitter".

Yea I had the Built in IR selected. I don't know why the Veo software conflicts with the Remote software but it does. Its all working perfectly now that I removed the Veo stuff. Thanks again:D

Just an update but I found that Ewallet compromises the compatibility of PDAwin as well. Guess its back to the drawing boards on getting this to work for me:crooked:
