NoteM bitrates

According to the NoteM help file (PDF version):

Quote:
On the Recorder page, you can:
o change advanced recorder options: recording quality (bitrate and mono/stereo); enable single press start/stop mode for the application launch button; disable automatic power off (even if it is enabled with the system-wide settings
Is this only true of the 2003 version? Using the 2002 version on my X5 I don't see options under Tools, Options, Recorder to do any of this. All I see are options to enable and set maximum recording time, to enable and set maximum drive usage, and to set the default storage path.

Am I missing something obvious?

What version of NoteM are you using?

I could certainly have access to all the advance settings you've mentioned and I'm also using X5 running P2K2.

Can you not see Advance Settings... then the option to "change" right below that?

Nope. In Tools, Options, I have 3 tabs: Recorder, Player, and Buttons. In Recorder are the following:

Maximum Recording Time
= Enable 10 sec
Maximum Drive Usage
= Enable 20 %
Default Storage Path
\CF Card\My Documents\Recording.mp3

It's version 1.0 - the .CAB file from www.zavorine.com/wince

I take it there's a later version?

hmmm, that might be the difference: mine's showing NoteM- MP3 Voice Recorder Version 1.10 from the same source though.

perhaps try uninstalling what you've got now then download and intall the setup file for AS instead. see if it would make any difference.

please post the outcome of this suggested procedure so we know how to troubleshoot this issue if it comes back up again.

duh! by the look of it he ruled that one out from the outset! but undoubtedly v 1.21 is available for PPC 2003 users.

apparently he's using PPC 2002, as he mentioned, and was just wondering if that's the difference between the available versions for those two os.

nZo,

Just running PPC 2002 does not dictate what version of noteM is installed. Version 1.21 will run on PPC2002 and WM2003 (atleast on my PPCs). In your earlier posts I did not see you mention version 1.21 when garryknight asked if there was a later version.

garryknight did not mention what version he was running in his earlier posts so I only mentioned what the latest version was.

<= Yes Ted!

if i'm not mistaken the download link implicitly indicates that:
v 1.10 = PocketPC 2002
v 1.21 = PocketPC 2003

if you used it otherwise, then it's your own prerogative and lucky (euphemism) you since it worked.

obviously there are later versions than what (version 1.0) he used.

I downloaded and tried the WM2003 version and it didn't work. Maybe I should have mentioned a couple of things: 1) I'm running the A00 version of the X5 ROM, and 2) I'm not that bothered about changing the bitrate. Mind you, the ability to "enable single press start/stop mode for the application launch button" would have been handy, as would the "disable automatic power off" feature.

I've downloaded both AS setup files but since I'm a Linux user I'm not going to try them out immediately. Anyway, if they don't solve the problem I'm not too bothered.
