Mad Agenda fusion issues

Hi,

Is anyone else suffering the following issues with Agenda Fusion, or is it just me?

I have an X5 runing ROM A02 (03050300EN)
Pocket PC Version 3.0.11171 (build 11178)

I am on the point of dropping Agenda Fusion, unles I can get this sorted.

1) If I set a 'task' to alarm at 08:00 on a given day. The Axim wakes at midnight on the day prior to the scheduled alarm e.g. alarm set for 08:00 on the 30th, the alarm will sound at 24:00 on the 29th. as if this were'nt bad enough (waking the house at midnight) the alarm then fails to go off at the required time.

2) When using 'repeating tasks' (with alarm set) and the first instance has been processed, you have to delete the current task in order for the next one in sequence to become visible/scheduled. This is a strange concept, but I was told by DeveloperOne that there was no way around this, so I accepted the situation. However, I find that when I delete the current task and look at the next instance of the task that has been created, the alarm time is TOTALY different to the expected time. In fact its out by about 12 hours. I therefore have to remember to go and edit each task after I have deleted the current one.

I don't think this is acceptable functionality for an 'organizer'.

DeveloperOne (authors of Agenda Fusion) seem to be saying that this is out of their control and down to MS functionality.

Please Note: these issues relate to 'tasks', not apointments.

Has anyone else come across these issues?

I'm about to go try an alternative.

Regards,

Glenn

I've been using AF for almost a year now.

Reminders for tasks are a global setting, there is no setting them for a specific time unless you set it globally for all tasks. I've only set alarms for tasks on a couple occasions and it's worked for me, but the global setting is a pain. When I want a task alarm now, I tap & hold on the task and tap "Save as Appointment" to get a specific alarm time.

For repeating tasks, the new task will appear when you 'complete' the old task. Don't delete it first or you will have to recreate the task.

I do not have this problem at all. Did you check the Reminders page of the options to see what time the default task reminder time is for tasks and for tasks synced from Outlook?

I am running AF 5.41, WM2003- but never had this problem on PPC2002 on any version of AF before.

Chris, I have to take issue with you here (in the nicest possible way).

On my version of AF (version 5 but was same on V4) you can definately set an individual time for a reminder on a task. You can have many tasks for the same day all with different reminder/alarm times.

For recuring tasks, if you delete the current instance of the task you will be asked if you want to delete 'all ocurances' of the task. If you select 'NO' then only the current task is deleted and the next in sequence suddenly 'appears' on the desired day in the calander.

As for 'completing' an instance of a task rather than deleting it, I haven't tried that. It may be worth a try. I'll give it a go later.

Thanks for your reply.

Regards,

Glenn

Doogald,

Yes I have checked my 'default' settings (set to 10:00 for both new tasks and activesync ones).

Judging by the lack of response so far, I suspect I may be very much in the minority (of one!) here. Perhaps its some other piece of software on my machine, but other than PocketPlus I don't know what else it could be. It's also strange that if I change the time to anything other than 08:00, the problem goes away?

I am currently trialing Pocket Informant to see if its any better, and so far it seems fine (fingers crossed).

Many thanks for your reply.

Regards,

Glenn

I have used both - though I cannot recall what PI did about tasks. The reason that I use AF rather than P is that, due to a whacky combination of Commintime's Cadenza Notes synchronization app and PI, I could not get Avantgo channels to synchronize if PI was running in the background. Because PI took so long to start up and runs much better in the background, I found this unworkable. AF did not have this problem, so I went with AF.

Really, I think that both apps are great, and either one is a better choice than the stock PIM apps. If PI works better for you, I'd suggest licensing it instead.

By the way, maybe there is an 8:00 am buglet. Have you tried setting them to 8:01 am to see if the problem is resolved? Would that (or 8:05) be a workable alternative? (I have mine set by default for 8:15 and, as I said, mine definitely alarm at 8:15 am).

Hmmm, you're right about the individual time settings. When I've set them before all I saw was the month calendar pop up to choose the reminder date. I've never noticed that the default reminder time had the 'triangle' to allow a different time to be input. Ya learn somethin' new every day...
