Software Install to CF - After hard reset

I have a hard reset and much of my sofware was installed to my CF. However, I don't see the software in the programs when I look for it.

I can create a link, but it doesn't seem to work unless I actually execute the program from the CF card.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there any easier way to to uninstall and re-install?

Thanks in advance.

Chad

Did you restore from a backup? If not, you'll probably need to reinstall the programs so that the shortcuts and any registry entries are replaced. Connect via ActiveSync and select Tools, Add/Remove Programs. Make sure the check box to install in default location is unchecked and then add check boxes next to the program names. I find it's usually necessary to do just one at a time but it doesn't take too long.

Your alternative is to select the executable files on your CF card, select copy then work your way to the Start menu/Programs/ folder to paste shortcuts but this will not restore registry entries (although in my experience, not too many programs need any).

Yeah, they will probably run alright... if he ever goes to uninstall them, he'll have to do it manually.
