Worried XP Shutdown for PPC

I tried to download and install the software that emulates Windows XP shutdown features for soft reset purposes, but was unable to get it to load. I unzipped the programs (English version) I then got 4 files. I clicked on the one labeled shutdown.003 and it said there wasn't enough memory to finish the copy to be loaded onto my X5, but I have plenty of memory available inside the PDA. What am I doing wrong?????

Thanks in advance!

The file you unzipped to get the four files might look like a Winzip compressed file, but it's actually a CAB file. Don't unzip it on your desktop PC. Copy it via ActiveSync to your Axim. Find it using File Explorer and click on it. It will self-extract to a directory called "Shutdown" in your "Program Files" directory. In that "Shutdown" directory, you will find a file called "shutdown.exe". That's your program. Even better, it creates, by default, a shortcut on your start menu for easy access.

Ok that worked great. I have an Icon under programs that looks like grey square with a circle in it. If I go to remove programs is it the one named: [schwartz-interactive.de] Shutdown???

The reason I ask is because I installed Yishin Powercheck and am having a no luck at uninstalling it.

Any advice on how to get rid of this powercheck?? I tried to go through the steps in the readme file, but I am left with a dead icon under programs (ScreenOff Icon) and I still get Yishin under remove programs. When I highlight and click remove, the timer thing appears and when it's gone Yishin is still there. I tried to reinstall, but can not. Active synch shows the file as being present, but I can not find it to try to reinstall. This is driving me nuts. I am tempted to back up everything and do a hard reset, but I want to wait until all options run out.
Any help??

I found two suggestions at PocketPC City.

First suggestion from Roger Saunders:
Quote:
Here's what I did ... First go to the windows directory (on your desktop/laptop computer with your pocket pc plugged in (iPAQ 1945) and find the file named "powercheck.dll" and rename it then move it to another directory somewhere. Then on your pocket pc, go to start... settings... system tab... remove programs... select powercheck program... remove and tada! It's out of here! What a deal!
And the second suggestion from Yishin himself:
Quote:
Please do the following procedure
1 tap Start-Settings-Personal-Today-Items-PowerCheck-Options
-uninstall
2 tap Start-Settings-System-Uninstall-Yishin Powercheck-Delete
3 Do soft-reset
Hope this helps.

Thanks. It was that powercheck.dll file that was holding me up. I still can't find it. I wound reinstalling a different (newer) version of the SW and I will live with it for now.

You guys were a big help. Let me ask your opinion: if I keep powercheck then I really don't need the XP style restart and power off program do I.

No, if you are using Powercheck or something like Omega One Battery Pack, which has the power and soft-reset buttons included, you won't need XP Shutdown. You can safely remove it.

Do you want to take a look at HandyMenu
Here is a link to its demo
HandyMenu gives you shortcut to PowerOff, SoftReset, brightness, Battary, ...etc

It has been pointed out that NiceStart also has this option, though it is twice as expensive as HandyMenu.

Actually it's 4 times the price of HandyMenu as we're running a special offer to save 2$ on
HandyMenu @ HandAnGo
Which makes HandyMenu only 2.99$
