can not remove SW

OK I installed powercheckV23 on my X5. Realized I wasn't too crazy about it and now I can not remove it. I go to remove programs and try to remove Yishin Powercheck and the little clock thingy does it's thing and I get the permanantly remove message and hit YES, then nothing happens. The SW is still there.

Also now I have an icon (or lack thereof ) that says "screen off" with no icon above it in my programs menu. How do I remove this???

This is why I hate installing stuff cause sometimes it's so annoying to remove them it drives me crazy.

I did install The XP style shutdown program as well and have no problems with it. HELP!

Is it this one?

If so, someone has posted a comment below about how to install it:

"To uninstall it, go to the settings... about tab and you will see instructions."

Hmm

Yes it was that one. I read the readme info and followed the directions. I still have Yishin in my remove programs screen. When I highlight and click remove, the timer appears and Yishin never gets removed. It never gives me a message about a file being open prohibiting deletion or whatnot. I also have the dead icon under programs that says ScreenOff (it looks like a windows box with blue header).

I removed the cab file from my active sync folder and then tried to reinstall the SW, it says its there, but I can't find it like I did when I first installed it??? This is driving me nuts. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't want to do a hard reset, but have done plenty of soft resets every time I tried something to remove what I just put on.

It's a today plugin right? Have you tried going to Start>Settings>Today>Items, and then unchecking the app BEFORE uninstalling?

Try doing a soft reset before uninstalling. Sometimes that will help.

I wound up clicking the link from Gigi and reinstalling that version, which seemed to be slightly different than the one I had trouble with. So I guess I am gonna stick it out for now and not worry about it. This ap must run from internal memory correct?

It should run from internal memory.

Anyways.. the best method I have found to uninstall a stubborn program is to reinstall it, dont run the program, and uninstall it.
Pretty sure that works because when its installed, it overwrites the data in the memory and clears it from the ram to rewrite it. And when that happens, the ppc is no longer using it so it can be uninsatalled.
