Exclamation Pocket PC directories

This is a basic Pocket PC o/s question. Through trial and error I have deturmined that Word and Notes can only see files that are directly in "My Documents" or the first level sub-directory thereof. It dosen't seem to matter if that directory {My Documents} is on a CF card or in main memory, in fact it lists all files found in both locations.
From the "My Documents" in main memory you get the sub dirs but from CF card, no sub dirs. Dose anybody know why and more importantly can you change this?

Thanks!

The reason, is because Microsoft is stupid.

You can't turn this off, however there are patches out there to fix it...though I've never successfully gotten any of them to work. Good luck!

You can certainly make all the folders and sub-folders you want, but as you say, the apps won't show them.
This may be distastefull, but the way around this is to put a shortcut for File Explorer on your Today screen and use it to navigate to your files. Tap on the file to open the associated app.

Files that you may use on a daily basis, such as journals, weekly or monthly diary documents, or any thing else will greatly benefit from putting a document shortcut on the Today screen. One tap to open.

It's cumbersome, but after a while it becomes second nature.
This is NOT desktop Windows.

BTW, you need some extra software to add Today shortcuts.

In Main memory the My Documents full path is:

\My Documents

On storage cards the full path is:

\SD Card\My Documents

or

\CF Card\My Documents

PocketPC can only look down two levels, so in Main memory it can see subdirs in My Documents, but in all other locations, it's already two down, so anything below is not visible.

It's not a bug, it's a "feature." :crooked:

Thanks

Thank you for your replys. I have already started to either work around this "feature" or just re-think the way I do things.

Thanks JakeRich and Mike C.

I am using tdLaunch which I like very much.
