AOL for Pocket PC

I have been trying to find a free version of AOL for Pocket PC. I have tried Cnet and ZDnet, but their sites for AOL downloads don't appear to working properly. Does anyone know of a site where they have successfully downloaded the newest version of AOL for Pocket PC. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have PocketPc2002, don't even bother looking. The current version of the AOL software for PDA's (whether you find it for free or buy it from a place like Handango) is NOT COMPATABLE with 2002.

Is there any reason why its not compatible? do you think they will update it any time soon?

It has to do with the coding differences between PPC2000 and PPC2002 that is making the program incompatable. From what I've gotten from AOL, there is no forseable update coming in the near future.

Yup - Talador's right. I stupidly purchased and installed the full AOL from Handago after reading several user reviews that said "What the heck, this works fine on my Pocket PC 2002 operating system." I figured I'd give it a try on my new Axim.

It worked fine for everything EXCEPT buddy list and IM. For those two functions, I would get a message saying that my buddy list and IM were currently unavailable. Mail, however, did work.

I learned the hard way. :-(

Don't know if I can help on the aol issue, but my buddy who got me to order my axim dl'd AIM for free from the UK aim site and he said it works great. I am awaiting the arrival of my Axim. I love reading all this info!

Well StoPPeR, you are entitled to your opinion. But because the Axim is a PocketPC2002 device, you will not get full functionality from AOL CE. That is the point that is trying to be made here. We appreciate your hard work in locating the link.

I did a search last night at Handango and to my surprise was Aol for Pocket pc 2002!

I downloaded it for 19.95 and it works! and I'm pleased! Now for the next move - how to kill the Junk-mail Giants... Michaelthor

HMMMMM well with the aol for pocket pc 2000 which people loaded on the 2002 , the activesync stops working hmm wonder if this new one works

I just downloaded AOL for Pocket PC 2002 and it did the same thing as last version. It shut down my active sync. Any ideas?
