Virus & Malicious Logic Protection
Howdy all,
I did a search through the forum and found the one thread on antivirus for the PDA. Basically I heard there's something out there for under $10 from Handango, otherwise, just don't do "high risk" activities.
Here's the problem as I see it. If you download any software, especially the free stuff, you never know what it contains unless you can reverse engineer the software. So you have to rely on backups and hope you have backups stretching back far enough that you have a clean backup.
With this in mind here are my JOE (the Fun New Guy) NEWBIE questions for fellow technofolk:
1. Unless you stick to brand name PDA software exclusively, you will at some time engage in "high risk" behavior and download something that may be meant to cause damage either at the time it is run, or at some future time. What can a guy do to protect his data without refraining from loading all non-brandname software?
2. Any ideas about existing PC antivirus programs having the ability to scan PDA programs if uploaded from the PDA to the workstation? Any war stories, ideas?
Thanks for your inputs. Hopefully I'll get my own Axim in the next couple of months and be able to contribute rather than just fire off questions.
