Diet Tracker

Can anyone post any URL's for good diet or calorie trackers? So far I have found the following but I am looking for others to try.

Diet Tracker
Calorie King
Diet and Exercise Assistant
Pocket Diet Tracker

Regards

Hi!

I did the trial for Pocket Diet Tracker & Pocket Diet http://www.electricdreams.ca/products.htm and I was happy enough with Pocket Diet Tracker to purchase it without trying out all of the other possibilities.

RMRDiet (PPC) http://www.rmrsoft.com/ipaq/diet.htm would probably have been my next choice of things to try. Here are some others:
MyBody Suite for Pocket http://www.l3solutions.com/L3Prod_L3MBPPC.htm
Pocket Health by Delta Software www.delta-sw.com/health.html
And I am sure that there are many more.

Thanks for the reply. I will check out the others. I am leaning towards the Pocket Diet Tracker as well but the database seemed that it wasn't as complete as the Diet and Exercise Assistant. I don't know if the purchased edition inlcudes a more extensive database or not. For example, under Alcoholic Beverages there were some generic examples (i.e. Lite Beer) but other products included a breakdown by companies (i.e. Miller, Michelob, etc). This is just one example. I also couldn't find lettuce listed in the vegetables. Can you tell me if the databse is more extensive that what I am showing?

The calorie king is testing a beta version of a diet tracket that uses the calorie king database where you can input exercises, foods from their list or your own. it will be out soon, I am one of the beta testers and so far it works great

I am looking for a program for the Axim that works with Weight Watchers. I have one for my Palm that is fabulous, does all the points calculations and keeps the daily journal, wish I could find it for Pocket PC. Anyone have any suggestions?

I believe the Pocket Diet at http://www.electricdreams.ca/products.htm calculates points. They have a free trial download so you can check it out.

Also try the Personal Health and Diet Manager from Two Peaks software. Great program!!! Really good database, tracks lots of stuff, and is compatible with Weight Watchers points. The trial is 14 days I believe.

Are any of these programs any good for the Atkin's Diet? Can you count carbs with any of them?

Pocket Diet Tracker keeps a running total of your Carbs (also Protien and Fat) in grams (and also as a percentage of calories consumed) you can also set goals and warning for if you for example go over your goal for the number of grams of carbs for the day. I believe that probably some of the others that are not specific to a certain diet such as Pocket Diet would be similar.
Under the rules of Atkins I think that you can subtract out grams of fiber from the total number of carbs and use that number towards your offical daily total. I am not sure that anything but an application designed especially for Aktins (or similar low carb plans) would do the subtracting out of fiber for you. I think that I have seen application specifically for that purpose on Handango or other sites, just search for Atkins, low carb or low carbohydrate.

Ok, so there's something that will count for you--but that isn't what I want. I'm at the beginning I can pretty much remember how many carbs I've had today (since I'm supposed to keep it to 20 at first) what I want is a mini database that I can put a food into and it'll bring up the count for that food and in the quantity I input.

I.e. I want to put in corn, 4 ounces and have it tell me how many carbs that is. I suppose I could also do this just by looking for one of the many books in ebook format (which so far I haven't found available) but I'd much rather have something a little easier to use that hopefully would cover more than a thick paperback.

Pocket Diet from electricdreams will do that. It has full nutritional information for a wide range of foods, including carbs. You can put in fractions of portions to get to the amount you are interested in for each food.
