I just got my Axim and I'm looking to do some development for it, but I can't think of anything to work on. Anyone have any good ideas for a new utility or perhaps an existing one that could use some improvement?

I have a axim 400 and have trawled the internet looking for a freeware database program which I can use to store customer a/c`s info which i can use/update in the field..I can use "contacts for this but this is not the solution as i wish to keep contacts and the database seperate.

Sounds interesting. I was starting to write a little app to manage my ebay auctions which included contact info for buyers. So I could probably use it as the base for a customer management db. What kind of information would you like to collect? How would you like it organized? Is there anything special that you would like to do with the data besides searching, editing, etc?

I'm curious if other users would find something like this useful.

It would be a bonus if the above fields were customisable like in access and if a report could be generated which would sync with Word.
there are other fields which might need to be added later hence the customise option....

your result could be worth a fortune as none exist at present....just dont forget to allow me to field trial the beta version!!

The one thing I miss from Palm was an app I found that allowed you to create links between various apps.

You highlighted a word and essentially created a hyperlink out of it. If no link had been created it offered you the option to create one. If you had done a previous copy/paste into something already then the created hyperlink automatically took you back to where you started.

It used the "find" function within Palm. To narrow the search parameters it put special symbols around the word to direct the links "find" to a certain app, like contacts/memo's/etc. You could also create your own special symbols to link to 3rd party apps.

The prog was called "Mega-Wiki"

How about something that will let you beam a specific contact with a certain PDA motion, like drawing the stylus from the bottom to top of screen or holding down the contact key button for a certain period of time (sound familiar?)

I think this is something that is missing from the Ax, and if it was an easy app to create..... it sure would be convenient

One thing I do miss from my Palm IIIxe is the "find" cabality. It was a "search engine" for all content in the PDA. You typed in a name or word, and this little utility would find all occurances in contacts, calendar, tasks, etc...

A great application would be a FREEWARE application that simply cascades the Start Menu programs. Every single one I've found, is shareware.

Exactly! Only one thing... the main, lowermost menu should still use the PPC theme image, and then there should be a separate image designated for the submenus maybe, as an option. That would really be nice, a skinnable cascading image prog with support for PPC themes.

There are already freeware apps to customize the bar across the top with the start menu, such as having extra buttons, allowing it to be skinnable, and having an app=switching utiility. I am using one like that called icbar.

Anyway, there is a relatively useless bar at the bottom of my today page, with nothing on it but "new|^" and then a big blue bar. it doesn't go well with my desktop, and I think something like this for a replacement for that bottom bar would be pretty useful:

a customizable bar, that is skinnable which could maybe have something like the icons of the running applications on it.

Finally, there shoudl be some kind of utility to easily change out the icons of various programs.

no pressure on you to design these, I'm just throwing out ideas I think people might like.

How about this? I have a lot of long running tasks and they pile up into a pretty big list. I would like to select some of the tasks and move them to another To Do list for just today without deleting them from the original list. I can do this now but a little cumbersome: Go to tasks, select, virtual keyboard, CTRL+C, Pull up Pocket word To Do list (or any other document) place cursor, then virtual keyboard CTRL+V. Hey it even transfers dates and notes. Would be nice though to just have a todays To Do list by date and just have a tool option to copy selected task to todays list.

What I would really like to see is something like Purple Software’s Convert Pro that is only available for the Psion. It converts various units into others e.g. weight, length, volume, etc. Unlike others for the PPC, Convert Pro shows all units simultaneously and allows you to add your own units and categories.

how about an axim emulator for my axim? Then I could in turn run the emulator inside an emulated axim and then.. ahh my head hurts now.
