Originally posted by CBombC the problem I was having was that I had one too many sub-folders under the them. After saving the .xui & installing on the ppc I was asked to save & I saved to that same folder which created another folder & I got this problem. So I took the file & folder it just created & I saved them to the folder above. (this probably doesn't make sense) But it worked. I'm just afraid to make too many changes because I'm afraid I won't know how to undo what I just did. Really liking the program though.

Glad you're liking PPX. I think i know what happened. You had an existing folder by the same name as the .xui file's folder. When you installed the .xui file it asked you where to save and you chose the same directory that had that folder, and it installed itself inside the first folder, so what you did was move the created folder out of the original so you could use it. Basically this is just a problem from having two themes with the same name, you may want to install to a different directory on your device or just rename the folder after installing. I'm hoping i'm reading you correctly, if not feel free to contact me.:)
Thanks BillyEvil...You understand perfectly! That's exactly what I did.
I'm still trying to understand plug-ins, slots, layers, & overlays. I'm using the sample skin from the tutorial to learn.
what is the "package" option near switch & install under settings?

The package option is for packaging your themes into .xui files. The way it works is quite simple. Just select package on the startmenu in PPX and this explorer style window will appear. This is the one where you select the theme that you'd like to package.
Simply browse through your folders on your Pocket PC and locate the folder that contains your theme and tap on the folder to highlight it, then tap on the ok button on your taskbar. In this example i've chosen my Illyria theme's folder.
Once you tap on the ok button the window will close and this new one will open asking where you want to "Save to" which means it just wants to know where on your device you'd like the .xui file to be placed when done. In this example i chose my storage card.
You simply want to tap on the folder so it is highlighted then tap on the ok button on your taskbar.
The window will close and in a couple seconds a small popup will come up saying that the package was successfully created if everything was done right. It will also give the file structure location of the .xui file. The .xui file will automatically assume the name of the folder it is being created from. So my Illyria folder made Illyria.xui. Simply tap the ok button in the small popup to dismiss it.
And then you can connect with activesync and use it to browse to your storage card and copy and paste or cut and paste the .xui file onto your desktop computer, where you can then zip it up with winzip and upload it with a screenshot to PPXThemes.Com for everyone to enjoy. ;)

Thanks for the explanation Billy. I am leaning more toward the idea of doing a theme request if needed as you mentioned ina another forum. Although I would like to learn to customize. Is there a tutorial that you can send a link to. What is the best way to get started in the learning process? Where do you get all the icon graphics?

Sorry i didn't reply sooner. As far as a theme request you can request via the link on the top menu bar on http://www.ppxthemes.com or the theme help link. Both will take you directly to the forums at the PPX mainsite for those things. I'll always help if i have the time.
As far as a tutorial. There's the manual in pdf format and the online faq for PPX, but those really just teach you about the basics and the features. The problem i have with a tutorial is that there are so many different possibilities that any kind of tutorial in making a complete theme would just make identical themes. I think the better learning tool may be teaching people how to do different effects and tricks, but there are so many possibilities there that it would take a while to put them all together.
Basically, you want to experiment and read the manual and see what you can create with the tools that are PPX. If you have specific ideas that you want to create and want some advice or ideas then post a question in the theme help forums and then people can help you do what you want to do. You can always contact myself and if i don't know i will do my best to find a way.
My first advice is to just read the pdf manual and experiment a little. Tear apart the themes others have made and post your ideas or what you want to do in the help forums so we can help you learn. Hope this and the links below help. Let me know. ;)
I am using "PPXPSilver" Theme and when I tap on the sound Icon I get a mute. i like that, but can I tap and hold and get the volume control slider?
Right now when I hold the volume icon in I get "\Program Files\PPX\User\SH...." X cannot find 'volume240' bla bla bla.
If I go to configure and then volume the execute is checked but there is nothing in the box below to execute. If I point to a sound application with that kill the option to mute by tapping it? What is the correct sound application I should point to?
thanks.
