Launcher app for Today window?
Does anyone know of a good launcher app to place on the Today page? I've tried one and I can't get the icons to display correctly.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Here's 2 I would recommend. The first one is freeware, called "TDLaunch"
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/tdlaunch.shtml
The second one is shareware (cheap...only $6 IIRC), which is very similar to TDLaunch, but takes up less real estate and has many more launching options, called RhinoLaunch:

Enjoy!

Now there's a cool name :D
For me, I like Battery Pack 2003 -- up to 60 program icons available, and only takes up one line of Today screen real estate, using a scroller to access multiple lines... cool.

I'm a BIG fan of BatteryPack's Program Launcher.
And then, on top of that, you can steal a great function that was used on the iPaq - the GigaTask button ( http://www.gigatask.com) is brilliant, and is perfect for use in replacing that USELESS "Home" button.
Try it on for size, no need to navigate away from the current program you're in - just press a button and navigate a cool launcher menu! :)
HTH,
Nick
P.S. Did I mention, GigaTask is pretty much FREE? They have a GigaBar Lite! Whoo!

TDlaunch is a great little app, but keep the other links folks gave you handy, too. Sometimes you (I mean I!) can get carried away with icons on your today screen, and end up wanting to free up real estate. Some of those apps, like Program Bar will put multiple rows of shortcuts in a single, scrolling line.
This is a very personal choice. Like screen protectors.
:D

Rhinolaunch
I'm a fan of Rhinolaunch. It's not free, but well worth the $6.

Icons? When you point to an executable, to add it to your today screen, the icon should appear for you. Or am I misunderstanding your question?
If you use Rhinolaunch, you can even over-ride the default icon choice, if you'd rather use ones of your own. I'm happy with Rhino, having been bugged to oblivion by Battery Pack's Program Bar... :D

For TDLaunch, you have to go Add and then go to the windows folder. From there, you should see Start Menu. Go there for any programs that are in the start menu. For the programs that aren't in there, go to the folder inside the Start Menu Folder.
Windows->Start Menu
Windows->Start Menu->Programs
hope that clarifies things a bit
