Problem with embedding recorded notes in applications (Contacts, Calendar etc..)

Does anyone have any light to shed on this one?
I can record notes within the NOTES application, however if I try to record a note to be embedded in entries in Contacts, Calendar or other applications I get the following error message:

"Recording Error
There isn't enough space for this embedded voice note. Either embedded recordings are not allowed here, or else the CODEC in use (such as PCM)does not provide enough compression. Try using a more compressed recording format(such as Mobile Voice)"

I have worked with Dell Techs this morning and they are sending me a new Axim. At one point in the discussion she tried to tell me that there was a misprint in the manual and that this feature was not possible. WRONG! Anyway a new unit is coming, but I am curious as I have not found references to this problem elsewhere.

I'm just wondering if you have tried to do this via a 3rd Party PIM (Pocket Informant (http://www.pocketinformant.com/) or Agenda Fusion (http://www.agendafusion.com/)?

They are much better managers of your tasks/calendar items that Pocket Outlook (which, IMHO, is one of the worst programs ever designed) and have better ways of managing all of your functions.

Try out a demo, see if it helps, and let us know if you have any other problems.

I have had the same error. I went to Settings>Personal>Input>Options and changed the Voice Recording Format down to a lower Hz (11000Hz, 8 Bit, Mono, 11KB/s) and that took care of the problem. I guess a higher setting creates too large of a file.

Thanks Chris,
Your suggestion took care of the problem. Too bad Dell has no clue! I guess when the new Axim arrives I'll send one of them back with a print out of this thread.

Ya gotta like that, they design the toy and then we teach them how to use it...

I had the same error message in Notes, changed the settings as Chrisss suggested to the lowest possible (8,000 Hz, 8 bit, mono, 8KB/s) and am now able to record...but only for about 3 seconds before the error msg pops up again and the recording stops. I have 30MB of storage memory and 20MB of program memory available. Any thoughts?
