No ! Both download fine from Aximsite>Resources>Utilities for Total Commander and from >Desktop and Shell for Icbar.

Thanks for taking the time to check, Davrol.

I suppose that the problem resides in my PC somewhere. When I click on TC I get no response whatsoever. When I click on icbar the following comes on my screen:
"C:\\Documents and Settings\Default\Locals~1\TEMP\rOurjOH.CAB could not be saved because the source file could not be read"

What this means I have no idea!
Thanks again

That means that he cannot read the Source File from where you are trying to install. Maybe the File is damaged... try to download it again.

The Icbar download file you should have is "icbar.arm.cab". You should not try to unzip this, but copy it to your Axim via ActiveSync>Explore to any location you like - My Device is as good as any. Then find and run/open the *.cab file with a file explorer and Icbar will install itself and the .cab file will delete itself. Icbar is a Today Screen plug-in which must be installed in Main Memory (RAM) to run properly.

The Total Commander file should be "tcmdpocket.exe". When you click on thisit should open up the normal "install" screen, provided your Axim is connected via ActiveSync of course.

I am afraid I have no idea what you "rOurjoh.CAB" file is !!

If you can't understand any of this (sorry to be patronising) then read Gigi's excellent Tutorial "Installing, Running and Uninstalling Software".

Many thanks Davrol. My knowledge level is so low that it is impossible to patronise me! I have read Gigi's tutorial. My problem is getting the file to download. Once that is done I can then cope with it (Ithink). I'll try again tomorrow.

If I don't post again I'll have succeeded or died in the attempt.

Keep Trying ! They are both very nice applications, well worth having :p

Come back again, by all means if you have problems.

BTW the direct websites are :-

http://icbar.ictinus.com for Icbar (no www)
www.ghisler.fileburst.com for TC

Something else you should try. On your desktop computer go to start then run. Type in chkdsk and enter.

It runs like scan disk did for windows 98. Make sure your hard drives don't have any error on it.

Thanks to all for your comments.
I checked the disk and then tried agian.
Both downloaded without problems so I am assuming that the original problem resided in my PC.
