When I start the app, it first takes you to a registration screen where you can enter your registration number. It also says to go to the website I mentioned to retrieve the registration code. I was able to use the program for three days by hitting the "Later" button, but that button now says "Cancel". Since I can't get a registration number, I can't run the program.
From what I've read elsewhere, there is no longer a freeware version of PocketMusic (although PocketMind's website still says it's free).
I used the link that says "Download freeware edition of PocketMusic for Pocket PC". When I install this, I don't see an option to install (or subsequently uninstall) any of the extras...just PocketMusic itself.
And as I mentioned, it says that in order to register, I must go to http://www.pocketmind.com/reg.htm , but that webpage doesn't have registration information.
Hi NASCARKev, Take a look at the file you downloaded. If that file is named PocketMusic31.exe then you got the bundle not the freeware. If that file says pocketmusic3.exe then that's the freeware player. If the player you installed from the pocketmusic3.exe file calls for a reg and times out contact Pocket Music. They've messed up their link somehow. You do not have to register freeware unless the devloper wants to know who's using their product. Pocket Music does not provide support for their freeware version so I have to assume something is wrong with the link if your downloading the pocketmusic3.exe file.

Reese, I uninstalled this software twice through Settings, Remove Programs. There was only a listing for PocketMind PocketMusic...no extras are listed there.
I deleted all PocketMind and PocketMusic keys from the registry...still no go the next time I installed. Well, I should say the "Later" button came back, so I have three more days before it dies again.
I just have to believe there's something wrong with the file they're linking at their site. But even if I downloaded the full package by mistake and indeed needed to register it, the link shown on the registration page on my PPC ( http://www.pocketmind.com/reg.htm ) doesn't take you to any registration vehicle.
I'm stumped, but I'm happy with Winampaq, so I'll stick with it for now. I'm just never happy when something like this kicks my butt.
I have the same problem. I did not install the extras. When I started the program a window pops up that says "To continue using basic non-commercial version of PocketMusic please register. Registration is FREE!" Then it has a place to enter the code, then it says "To get your FREE reg. code, visit http://www.pocketmind.com/reg.htm"
The page the link takes you to is a place to buy the full featured version, and has nothing to do with the freeware version.
I had the same problem but did a search for the page in Google. I click on the cached version of the registration page and it let me enter in my info and gave me a reg code.
It looks like Google doesn't have it cached anymore. When searching for link, you could just click the "cached" link in Google for the page. That's how I got mine to work but it doesn't look like its there anymore.

I've found this problem and what is more annoying is that I have registered it in the past. However, I thought I could just go back to the page to get the code after a hard reset...
I've emailed them (Pocketmind) twice about it but they have neither updated their site or responded. :realmad:
I can only assume that it is some cunning ploy to get the likes of us to pay $20 to have the full version, but the way they've gone about it, I certainly won't be giving them any money.
For now, GSPlayer is doing the biz for me :approve:
