Use Different Contact/Calendar than Outlook

I have been an Outlook Express user for a long time and I really don't like using Outlook. I have downloaded the new SyncExpress 2002 which works great, it alllows me to sync perfectly with Outlook Express. My only problem is I need to keep addresses, phone numbers and info on clients, plus a calendar to schedule appointments with. Outlook Express doesn't have a calendar and a really lame contacts file. I was wondering if anyone knows a good calendar/contact program that works on my desk top and syncs with Axim. I need to be able to imput data on desktop and PPC and sync it though ActiveSync. I don't want to have to open Outlook to book an appointment or enter a contact.

Well - one of the problems is that the PPC is designed around Outlook and its integration with the system - completely.

I honestly don't know of anything else that could take its place - but there is talk of being able to convert the Axim over to a Linux based OS, which would probably allow you to run a pocket Evolution (which is the Linux version of Outlook) - but then you'd probably have to run Linux on your main computer.

Basically - to avoid the PPC integration with Outlook... well, you'd have to get a Palm :(

Sorry I couldn't help more - maybe there are some other desktop solutions to replace Outlook.

We're in the same situation but perhaps a bit worse. This is our first PPC. Have been devoted Palm users til now. We don't
own Outlook - just Outlook Express. So I'm hoping the tip I read on another board that it's possible to use the Yahoo calendar works. I really don't want to pay for Outlook.

You should have gotten a copy of Outlook 2000 on the axim cd. I did with mine but I already have it installed and use it daily. I was just disappointed it didn't come with Outlook 2002.
P.S. I am refering to the desktop version.

There is a product called IntelliSync that allows you to sync your PPC with several different desktop applications:

MS Outlook 97/98/2000/2002
MS Outlook Express 5.0/6.0
Schedule 7.0*/7.5**
Lotus Notes 4.5/4.6/5.0/5.0.10
Lotus Organizer 5.0/6.0
Novell Groupwise 5.5.2/5.5.4/5.5.4.1/6.0/6.01/6.02
ACT! 4.02**/2000/6.0
Palm Desktop 4.01/4.1

I haven't tried it - but a trial version is available from the site

you can do that via a common desktop PIM (most likely outlook)

sync everything to the PC and then sync to the Axim
(if the psion does not sync with outlook- the program I mentioned above has a version for psion as well - and since you only need it one time you can probably use the trial version)
