Omega One IP Dashboard.

Does anyone own IP Dashboard 1.2 from Omega One?

You can download the trialhere.

Now, from what it looks like it changes settings for the adapter you choose? In my case I chose DelL WLAN.... so as I understand it you can choose a profile and it will change settings? I ask because at home I use static and when I'm out I don't bother connecting because I don't want to reset IP addresses later.

Start>Settings>Today>Items>IP Dashboard>Options

Scroll the bottom tabs to 'profiles' and add one for static, and add one for DHCP. Choose the one you want and click on "Activate"

Am I understanding this right? If so this could solve a lot of problems for home/work users, etc... only problem is I don't see settings for WEP, etc.

No, you can't enter WEP settings. It is more of a manager and less of a separate WLAN client. It is nice, I've owned it for a while, but am currently not using it.

Actually, does it work at all? I am wondering if the new Odyssey client is interfereing or something. I tried using profiles and they don't seem to switch anything.

I emailed the developer (husonmobile) and they stated that things have come up and the program is more of a hobby now, but that lots of people are asking for WEP support so he will look into it.

OK, IPDashboard works fine on my Axim. It does what it is supposed to do. That's real nice that they're referring to it as a "hobby" now. I'm sure all the folks who paid for it, myself included, would be happy about that!

Anyhow, now I understand what you want to do with it. THey haven't updated the app in quite sometime, so its doubtful that you will see this integrated if it's now a "hobby".

I haven't found any other programs that do the same thing. I try not to be too critical of developers. Sure it is annoying, but things come up. It isn't like the small price I paid for their prodct is enough to live on.

It sounded like he wanted to spend more time on it but just couldn't. Doesn't make me less annoyed, just less critical (outloud).

Regardless... if anyone knows of a program that supports 'profiles' so that a user can connect to networks with different settings with the push of a button... let me know. I'd pay for that...

Okay, what I am looking for is this....

Currently someone who wants to use their axim at home and work (wirelessly) needs to constantly change settings, or if they are lucky they have the same brand equipment at home and can set it up identically. The alternative is to be dumb enough to work for a company that leaves access open, and do the same at home.

If you are familiar with IP dashboard it is nice, but what I would like to be able to do is have a similar desktop program like it that allows me to press a button and confirm (to avoid accidents) and switch to one profile settings, and press another to switch back.

I get home where I have a static IP address of xxx.xxx.x.xxx and wep set off. (Not really, just making a point). I press a button assigned to profile 1 and poof, all settings are changed for this network.

I get to work the next morning where IP's are assigned by DHCP but WEP is enabled to 128bit. I press a button assigned to profile 2 and poof, all settings changed for this network.

I decide to go for a drive, and out of curiousity I want to see how many netowrks are open between my house and the book store down town. I press a button assigned to default and poof, wep is turned off, IP is DHCP determined, and I have enabled 'connect to any'

The problem is now the program would have to integrate or override Dell WLAN utility AND Odyssey. I don't know if it is possible.. but imagine how much easier it would make networks for people who actually leave the house.

Currently we are very busy with PocketBreeze 4.1, iLauncher 2 and another surprise....

Well I have pocketbreeze and love it. I don't have iLauncher, but then again I hadn't seen it... when is 2 coming out?

And what is the surprise? That isn't fait to do. You can't have such good products, mention that one is in the works and not expect us to want to know what it is...

It will be out with PB 4.1, I really hope we can finish everything in two weeks :)

I personally think Jason (who manage the iLauncher project) did a great job, but we will see what the market will decide :approve:
