Question Excel Conversion Problem

When moving a excel spreadsheet into my Dell Axim from my PC it moves into my Axim as a blank spreadsheet with empty cells. Anyone having the same problems? Know a work around?

Thanks in advance! :)

Make sure you use activesync to move it, as it has to be converted to a pocket excel file. Activesync will do the conversion for you, just drag it to the my documents folder.(or anywhere else you want it to be)

Check your axim and make sure the excel file has a .pxl extension, if it does then it has been converted and pocket excel will open it. Pocket excel does not support all the goodies that excel does (such as macros). Try loading a real basic sheet and see what happens. Also type in excel in the quick search on this page, you should find some usefull info there.

Thanks... I will try that. I do know that the spreadsheet I was trying to import from the desktop does contain macros.

Third party App

I installed a spreadsheet application called SpreadCE. It syncs beautifully with Excel and supports many more commands than Pocket Excel. Added bonus: it does not convert the file to .pxl but rather leaves it in .xls format :)

The trial is full-featured but gives the occasional pop-up asking you to register. I love it so much, I shelled out the 20 bucks.

I'm lost everyone...
I can only get one of my excel files to show on my PPC. When I use AS to migrate an excel file from my box to my PC I never get a conversion prompt. It will take my files and copy them over. Then when I go to my PPC and look for the files. I can't locate them where I think they should be. The one time I was successful and finding the file I'd try to open the file with no luck I get an error message "There is no application associated with this file. Run the application first, then open the file from within the application". Once I do that I don't even see the file from within excel. What am I doing wrong!?!?!?

Thanks

Use Explore from the Activesync menu and locate the file. Let us know if it is listed as .xls or .pxl report back your fidnings and we can help.

I also use spreadsheet ce.

I don't like Pocket Excel stripping the formatting.

For those die hard spreadsheet users, Sotmaker has PlanMaker which is the equivalent of Textmaker, but for spreadsheets.
