If you get it figured out, let me know what you did. I've tried about everything suggested here with no luck. I too have about 600 contacts and have been trying to beam them over one by one. whole catagories will not beam. And I have to rebeam each contact anywhere from 2 - 10 times before it will "go". This is the only thing that has dampened my enthusiasm over this conversion.
PalmIII - 6yrs.
Dell Axim - 3months
Impressed, but frustrated :rolling:

I have just about exhausted all my ideas.....
If I should come up with anything I will post it.

I have setup several Palms with outlook and hotsynced with no problems. Are you using a exchange server or local folders?

This isn't exactly the answer you want, but I just want to point out that I *did* manage to do it, as a comma delimted file. It took me a long time to figure out how to do it, and I don't remember what I did anymore.

I downloaded DataViz's Desktops to Go demo. It allows you to sync your Palm with Outlook. Once that's done you symply ActiveSync to the Dell and everything's ported.
One word of caution: be mindful of the data transfer option you choose when running the program. If you're not careful you stand to loose some data. I recommend (a) having a backup of everything and (b) starting off with an empty Outlook if at all possible. I didn't have to merge data (grabbing some from the Palm while keeping some in Outlook) but I can see where that could get tricky.

The solution,
Download pocket mirror and install it.
place your palm in its cradle and open microsoft outlook (not express). press the sync button and your adresses/appointements/notes/tasks wil synchronize with outlook.
unistall pocketmirror and synch your axim with outlook. e-mail if you have questions, I just did this proces today, IT WORKS GREAT!:D

export
I did this successfully without loading other SW that I wouldn't need later.
Just go to your Palm desktop, Export whatever you want (address, notes, calandar - but the calandar doesn't import into Outlook).
I tried tab delimited and comma delimited; tabs worked best.
When you have your export files, just open Outlook, and import the files.

PocketMirror is also on most of the Palm installation CDROMs.
You can also sync your Palm with Yahoo mail, then sync the Ax with Yahoo mail. I read that on another board, so I don't have the steps to do that little trick.

I'm having a similar problem, but I don't even have the Palm Desktop to work with. I've been syncing my Palm device under Linux, and only have the *.pdb files to work with. I'm currently working on a perl script that will parse the pdb files and create a csv file as the output. Then I only have to import to Outlook (yuck!). When I get this done, I'll post again, and make the code available to anyone who wishes to use it.
