Dear All,
I updated all the telepone & address partiuclars with MS outlook in my PC and scychronised them with my Axim but later found that the contact in my handheld just did not link to anything. When I click on the contact link, nothing happens as if there is no available link at all. The original contact program came with the Axim seems to be gone.
I thought there was problem with the scych and did it once again. Nothing has changed but when I search for contact with the Find function, the information with the Outlook in my PC is all there, it is contained in the Contact Type. The problem is the link to the information, it does not point to or just does not open the contact folder.
Also, after downloading and scychronising the dictionary, there is no icon showing the folder or the whereabout of the dictionary.
I tried to find out from previous forums but could not find out the way to solve the problems, could anyone help?
Many thanks!
Peter

Peter, are you saying that the icon for the Contacts program has disappeared? If the latter, look in the \Windows directory for addrbook.exe and then "copy/paste shortcut" to where you want it to be. That's the contacts program.

JakeRich,
Thanks for the advice.
It seems that I am in real problem as I went to My device, Windows and tried to open addrbook but without success. Other programs like 123down can be opened but there is no repsonse with addrbook after the circle indicating the opening of a program has blinked. Is the grogram corrupted and what can I do now?
Regards,
Peter

What is the file size showing for Addrbook? On my machine it is 2.58K. If you don't have that size file, then it may be corrupted.
123down is not a program, it's a gif file that opens PIE and then PIE displays the picture. It only looks like it's running a program.
Try opening Activesync on the pc, then Explore and navigate to the Windows directory of the Axim. There should be two entries for addrbook, a .exe file and a shortcut. The .exe file is the actual application, the shortcut points again to PIE. There should also be a file called addrdll.dll. If any of these are missing, it may require a hard reset to regenerate them. Before you do that, however, let me know what you find out.

Yes, the size is 2.58k and all the files you mentioned including addrbook, addrbook short-cut and addrdll.dll are all there. The short-cut points to \windows\poutlook.exe contact. How can I do the hard re-set? Many thanks!

See Page 25 of the User's guide. If you have data you want to save, back it up first. If it's in the Outlook on the pc, don't worry about it, you can re-sync it after the hard reset. WARNING: A hard reset will put everything back to just as it was when you took it out of the box the first time, except that the batteries will be charged already.

Hi JakeRich,
Thank you very much for the advice. A soft re-set as mentioned in P.24 of the User Guide resolves everything, the contact link is working now and no data stored is lost.
Thanks again for the expertise advice.
Regards,
Peter
