Question about shutdown program's

I was wondering what the point was. I have tried the Shutdown util found here - Shutdown

but after using it i've seen no difference in just hitting the Power Button located at the top of the axim... I was thinking that the program would close all active and inactive programs and then power it down into what is really suspended mode...

Anyone have any input on this? If there is a better util for shutting down let me know as well.

I think you can shutdown PPC. All I know is that you only put it on standby when you press the power button. I may be wrong though.

Shutdown utilities do exactly the same thing as hitting the button. The advantages to using these utilities:

- Reduces wear on the power button
- You are still able to shut down your PPC if your Power button gets damaged
- Some cases make it hard to press the power button
- Probably some more, but that's all I can think of right now. :)

Yep, I have Battery Pack Pro, and I have shutdown, soft reset, and lock device buttons. I like using them much better than their hardware button equivalents . . .

I use Handy Menu which gives me power off, soft reset and hard reset. I mostly use it for the hard reset which saves me a lot of headache.

Thanks for the info. Until I pickup a hard case I'll stick with the hardware button for now I suppose.. although I can use memmaid's if I ever need hard reset.

For me one of the best things about Shutdown is the ability to do a soft reset without taking the Axim out of its case turning it over and stabbing it with the stylus.
