So you navigate to the shared folder that contains the Windows Media files, and nothing happens? If you're using File Explorer, a single tap will do the trick. That's strange, do you receive any type of error, or does it just do nothing?
The way I do it is using NetUse, Total Commander, and WMP. NetUse establishes a network drive to my desktop, TotalCommand allows me to explore the network drive. Double-tapping on a wma, wmv, etc. file lanuches WMP against that file.
On some routers maybe. All I know is that the video was very choppy with wmv files, but when I disabled powersave, it seemed faster. It's just something to try @ this point. Other than some type of permissions issue, I really can't see what would prevent you from streaming them.
I do this every day. Just connect to the network share where you have your wma or wmv files and stream away. They work best when you have the WiFi Power Management disabled :)
