This example will connect to drive 'C.' For 'Local name' I used 'P3200\C'. Tap OK. It then asks for the name and password. I just left these blank. Tap OK. Tap the 'Network' folder and you should have a folder for drive C.

This works, but it is a bit of a pain to have to repeat this process for each drive on the networked PC (\\P3200\\D\, \\P3200\\E\, etc.). I was not able to connect to the CD drive. Maybe someone on this forum knows how to access the networked PC without specifying the drives and is willing to share that information with us.
AWESOME!!! Thank you very much. :approve:

I will add a little bit to the instructions because I am not sharing my complete drive, just folder within the drive.

To connect to a shared folder on a computer on the network.

Tap file, tools, Network Connect. In Remote Path type: \\ComputerName\\Sharedfolder\
For Local Name type the name you want displayed on the PPC.
Tap OK.

Example: Remote Path: \\MyLaptop\\Shareddocs\
Local Name: MyLaptop-Shareddocs

ComputerName-you should type the name of the computer you want to connect to.
Sharedfolder-you should type the exact name of the folder (or drive) that is shared.

Edit:
I agree, it would be nice if someone who knew could show us how to scan/search for computers on the net or or automatically access computers. If that is possible.

GSFINDER is back in the start menu.

Follow up:

Today I typed the same exact path to connect to my PC and I can no longer get on it. I do not get an error message, but when I tap the folder is shows up as empty. I tested the same path format on another PC and was able to get on with all the folders showing. I knew something was odd.

I went back to reconnect to the first PC and noticed the path was showing three back slashes when I had only typed two (I know there were two because I copied and pasted the same path to connect to PC #2 and only had to change P3200 to P3400). I clicked the down arrow that shows all the previous paths that I had tried when I was first trying to get GSFinder+ to connect. In this list there were all the wrong paths that I had tried. I have yet to find a way to delete them. I am sure that if I could delete them that GSFinder would be able to connect again. I am not sure where this list is maintained. The Registry, maybe? I see some of the same paths there but nothing that looks like the entire list in GSFinder+. There are about ten entries all for the same PC that I need to remove.

Right now, Resco Explorer is looking pretty good for the $25. It is very easy to use and it has not failed to connect once.

Do not use the backslash in the local name. This is an invalid character for a file/folder name and causes all sorts of confusion. As a test, I mapped a shared folder with the backslash in the local name. YIKES - not a good idea. GSFinder should not allow this character to be used in the local name. I consider this to be a bug.

There are more slashes here than you need. The 'syntax' for mapping a windows share is \\ServerName\ShareName (note 2 backslashes before the ServerName, single backslash before the ShareName and no slash after the share name).

Go to File > Tools > Network Disconnect and disconnect everything that has a backslash in the local name. Soft reset, then re-setup your connections using the '\\Server\Share' syntax, and and underscore instead of the backslash in the local name. So you will have:
Remote Path: \\P3200\C
Local Name: P3200_C

I'd also like to point out that these connections will re-establish themselves after a soft reset as long as you don't disconnect them. They will show up as empty folders when your wi-fi is off, and will be usable when you connect to the network.

Thanks for the info, DStutz. I am not positive, but it is likely I tried \\p3200\c and did not get connected. GSFinder's paths are so messed up on my Axim I cannot go back and test if it works. I would like to test if the path entry is case sensitive and that is why \\p3200\c did not work for me. IMO, GSFinder+ works for the user who is experienced in network connections and does not make mistakes. I am still learning about my Axim and I need a program that does not accept and store incorrect paths.

I have it working in the latest release of gsfinder+ If the share on the pc is e.g. \\sharedpc\data (d) then enter it just like that and it works!
