Wicked free File Explorer "GSFINDER+"

I posted this before in a wrong thread.Nobody would ever find it:)

It is too "wicked" not to be found and used! Optimized for WM2003SE, and source available. From the programmer of GSPlayer.

GSFINDER +

It ia very nice and complete, and very, very fast Japanese made Filemanager. If you're looking for one. Why not this one? Try it it is free for life! Testing it out myself right now and made this screenshots. Works on all(PPC2002/WM2003(SE)) systems. Special WM2003(SE) cab included. Source free!

Taken from the webiste of the programmer:

"GSFinder+ is a great File Manager and a perfect replacement for the default Windows CE/PocketPC File Explorer.
GSFinder was first created by Y. Nagamidori as an open source application;
GSFinder+ is an advanced version of GSFinder made by M.Toda (E-Mail:todamitsu@hotmail.com) introducing some new features like ZIP and LHA archives management, Drag-and-Drop , and network options.

The main features of GSFinder+ for PocketPC are:

-1)Small size, quick

-2)Familiar interface using intuitive context menus.

-3) Drag and Drop:
* default behavior: moves the file to the destination folder
* special setting to open a popup menu with different options ( copy, move or shortcut creation)

-4)LHA (lzh) and ZIP Archives Management:
IMPORTANT: to use the compression features,
it is necessary to install additional Dlls (unlha.dll and unzip.dll) available from here:
http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA02...t/unXXXce.html.

-5) Open any file with different applications (you may override the default file associations)

-6)'Go / Favorites' Menu (accessible from the star icon on the toolbar)

-7) Map 'Network'folders

-8) File Search

-9) Absolutely free of charge, and much more advanced than many commercial applications !!!

(Please look at an attached text(GsFinder+_Guide(PPC).txt) for details.)

[Acknowledgement]
-It is easy to use, and in spite of being the outstanding filer, I am thankful to Mr. Y.Nagamidori who is having you carry out to public presentation of a source code.
-I am thankful to Mr. Uema2 who is having use permitted to public presentation of UnZip.DLL/UnLHA.DLL which is the outstanding archiver, and a software developer.
-I am thankful to Mr. Alain Brasseur who had offer of icon data, and creation of an English version helped.

"WARNING: LHA support has been temporary disabled in this build, due to some problems found with UNLHA.dll.
This problem is also encountered with other applications using UNLHA.dll:
it is not due to GSFinder+ itself. Until a solution is found, only Zip compression is allowed through UNZIP.dll"

I am new to the PDA world. Just got an X50v. I figured out how to install GSFinder+ by dragging the GSFinder.WM2003.CAB file to a folder on the Axim. But, I cannot figure out how to install the correct UnZip.dll (there are several) and where to install it to. This software does not come with installation instructions.

Did you try just tapping on the CAB file to install it?

When I unzip the downloaded file uzce093.zip on my PC it contains 3 documentation files (html & txt, all in Japanese) and a file called src.tar.bz2 that WinRAR recognizes as an archive. There are not any cab files in the zip or the bz2 files. (No idea what a bz2 file is.) There are not any Setup.exe files either. The zip file also contains a folder named DLL with an HPCPro sub-folder and a PocketPC sub-folder. Each of those contain folders called ARM, MIPS, SH3 plus an SH4 folder in HPCPro folder. These folders each contain UNZIP.DLL and UNZIP.LIB.

Does that help?

UnZip.dll is not needed as the file is installed with the GSFinder.WM2003.CAB. The instructions you read have not been updated to relect this.

Blade, you are absolutely correct. I copied a zip file to the Axim and tested it. Thank you!

I copied the .zip download to my SD card. When I try to extract the file by tapping on it I get a "Decompress error" and the extraction process just hangs. Clearly I am doing something wrong. Can someone give a step-by-step of their successful install? Thanks.

I unzipped the file on my PC and then copied the WM2003 CAB file to a folder on my x50v. I clicked the CAB and the OS installed the utility.

I am also getting this decompression error, it unzips a few of the files and then stops.

Thanks, Vegasguy, that worked. Interesting, the file you provided is a smaller one than Dstutz linked to. The file name is different, lacking an "e" at the end. I wonder what is the difference b/w the files.

It is entirely possible that I have an older version. Mine says v1.01 without the 'e'.

Where do you find the version number? I have GSFinder but I can't locate the info on it.
