Looking for software sugestions Palm convert

Hey peoples:
Well I am certainly enjoying my new dell !!

However there are a couple of
pieces of software that made my Palm so very useful to me. I hope some of you that have had a Palm OS and now have a PPC can help me out.

I need replacements for:

Datebook 5 - something that ties all of my information to one easy to see place and allows linking between the various information

Think DB now Smartlist - A customizable database program

Natara Daynotez - a daily journal program.

Noah Dictionary

Builder calc - A calculator for working with feet, inches, meters and
so on

Natara Bonsai - outline task management

And one I dont have but am looking for
Project management software

Any help would be appreciated
Alex

Hi, I converted from a Palm Vx just last week, so I am probably not the most experienced PocketPC user but here's what I've found:

TaskPlus and CalendarPlus tie together your tasks and calendar data onto the Today screen. I haven't found anything as comprehensive as Datebk3 yet. (I never upgraded to ver 5)

I looked hi and low for a freeware dictionary like Noah Lite but there are none to be found. I settled on Lextionary ($15).

I don't use databases on my PDA but I noticed some recent discussions on this board about the best database solutions.

Good luck in your freeware search. One thing I will tell you is that there is no where near as much freeware out there for the PocketPC as there is for the Palm. That's not to say I don't love my Axim, I do, but I wish there was a better software selection (both freeware and payware).

There are two applications that have comperable functionality to Datebk4: Pocket Informant and Agenda Fusion. They are both very full featured, and allow the kind of functionality you are looking for. It is mostly a matter of taste as to which you choose, though Agenda Fusion has the reputaion of being faster, and Pocket Informant of being more feature rich and customizable. I am a PI user, and find it to be excellent.

Datebook 5 - Yes, I agree, try Pocket Informant and Agenda Fusion.

ThinkDB/SmartList - Some folks recommend Sprint DB but I like HanDBase, though the professional version (which gives Forms functionality) is a bit pricey (IMHO) at nearly $40.

HanDBase

I would suggest Agenda Fusion. Pocket Informant was extremely slow on my axim. I really looks stylish with gradients and so on but of what use is it if it takes so much time to just add an appointment? I use AgendaFusion and wait for PenAgenda. It will probably be the best outlook replacement. That is my opinion.

First I want to say I am so glad I found this place. I went through almost every forum last night. Was up until 2 am absorbing knowledge.

Ok Im gettin closer to my few software needs :D

Database
Just about everything I was using Think DB for I have been able to replicate with simple yet somewhat elegant Excel docs. I.e. Daily hours at work, comp and vacation time for staff, wrist watch timing and calibarationand even made a nifty little tip and divy up calculator while I was at it.

40 bucks is a little on the high side for Handbase in its current form. I tried the trial and until it gets as intuitive as THink db was I think I will stick with excel.

PIM
Well I spent three days with both PI and AF loaded. I found issues with both but of the two I like the AF program better. PI had a WHOLE mess O features but it was deadly slow. I even went into the settings to set the processor at 400mhz but I still was disappointed.
AF needs wordwrap and at very least a 4 or six months view and it would be damn near perfect. Cute fast and simple.

Builder Calc
Construction calc This is a wow wee program and blows Builder calc away. Pretty expensive but if this is what you do ?? (PS Im an Exhibits director in a NY museum) So I just might have to break open the wallet for this one.

I still need your expert opinions on replacements for
Daynotez

Bonsai outliner

I need a good dictionary to replaceNoah pro

Oh and any project management software you might recommend.
Thank you for your input and thanks to whomever put up this site !!:D
