PI and Outlook Problem

I have recently encountered a problem with PI and Outlook and appts not syncing properly. I would say about 50% of the time appts entered on my PPC are not showing up in Outlook and vice versa.

I have Active Sync configured to sync all appointments. Under the rules tab I have it set up to leave the item unresolved if there is a conflict between the desktop and the PPC.

Anyone got any ideas?

Hi Cheryl

I am assuming that the entered appointment remains where it was entered - it just doesn't get copied across? or is it removed?

I know that PI doesn't affect sync in anyway - so (assuming they remain each appointment remains where they were entered) it sounds as though it is an AS or Desktop Outlook issue.

Are the appointments you enter on your PC available in Pocket Outlook? or are they missing from there as well?

Either AS is playing up (you know what to do) or there may be a possibility that you .pst file is corrupt (which will be the case if it is over 2gb - what size is yours?).

Hi Rob,

Yeah, the appts remain where they are entered. They are not syncing at all now . I checked Outlook and my .pst file is less than 1 GB.

When I enter an appt on my PPC and look at Active Sync on my laptop it shows it to be syncronizing but it is not showing up in Outlook. Ugh! I am so irritated by this I just cannot tell you.

Problem solved. I am an idiot :hide:

It seems someone I had the calender archive folder opened in Outlook and was entering all of my appts there.

I'm going to go crawl under a rock now.

Don't feel bad. I think we all have had our "moments." Glad that you figured it out.

Outlook archive is an enigma wrapped up in a ham sandwich. I've never figured out the use of the folders it creates, and I don't see the recently archived items in there. MS - go figure!

Cheryl, If you're an idiot, I'm far worse, cause it's over my head. I'm clueless as to how the archive actually works. It's kinda lousy to think appts. would get directed to that folder just because it's open. I feel your pain, but think its pretty cool that you figured this out. Please don't be so hard on yourself. I'd love to even know where the archive is, etc.

Actually my hubby was the one that figured it out. I knew there was a reason I keep him around ;)
