I know this is probably answered in some thread, but haven't been able to find an answer quickly.

I just got an Axim X30 and am starting to find out what I can about using it.

I am wondering whether there is an application to change PDA file associations FROM THE PC rather than having to install it on the axim itself.

I know I can edit the registry by hand (OK for now, but a) a bit risky and b) a bit bothersome), and I've also seen a bunch of utilities which install directly to the PDA, but I don't think there's a point in wasting space since it's not something I really constantly need to do on the go.

Here is another question regarding file associations. How do I associate "alternative commands" to a file type (using the registry), or is it even possible?

To be more precise, I would like to open .tex files with an editor, but to be able to run LaTeX on them as well (i.e., by tapping and holding). I suppose this must be possible by adding the right key to the Shell command, but I'm a bit reluctant to just try it out without any guidance in fear of screwing something up ...
