Removing a program from Startup

How can I remove a program from startup, when it's not listed as a shortcut in the startup folder? Windows 9x/NT have registry keys that allow additional items to be added to startup without adding shortcuts to the folder, but I can't find anything similar in PPC2002.

When I flip my Axim on, I get a 'Notification Error' sayin' Windows can't execute \windows\Xscalectrl.exe, which I uninstalled a few days ago. As you might have guessed, this bugs the hell outta me. I'm ready to reinstall XScaleCtrl just to get rid of that damn message. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Your sure you looked in "\Windows\Start up" directory, and not "\Windows\Start" directory? Also, did you soft reset after removing the program? It sounds like one of the overclockers that takes over as soon as it resets and isn't really removed until you reset again.

If Jake's suggestion don't help you, you might want to try reinstalling it, and then uninstall it again. I had to do that with a program once.

Did you try using the explore option in Active Sync to look for any left over files?

This is very similar to my problem. Uninstalled Agenda Fusion and now I get Notification Message - "Can't Run Fusionmonitor.exe"

I looked for a "Run" entry in the reg file but I don't see any. It is definitely not in my startup folder

I figured out how to fix my problem. I reinstalled icbar, that was the program that was giving me problems. I tried to copy the same file that already in the startup but it wouldnt let me replace it so I placed a shortcut. I did a soft reset and voila, fixed. Went back in the start up folder and deleted that problem file.
