I am interested in an application that would allow me to store all of my passwords, PIN numbers, credit card numbers, and other sensitive data. Obviously I want something that will secure the data even if I lose the Axim. Any recommendations?

I use eWallet, I have all my passwords, vehicle info, cresit card numbers (with pics of the cards), id's (with pics of the id's) and alomost everything else I might forget, its password encrypted and its pretty sweet. You can have different profiles as well.

eWallet

I'll throw in my vote for eWallet too. My soon-to-be-sister-in-law might get an Axim primarily for this program!

Has anybody tried CodeWallet (http://www.developerone.com/pocketpc/codewallet/)? This looks comparable to eWallet - I like both in the fact that they have a desktop component as well... I'm trying to decide between those two now...

Well I had used codewallet in the meantiem before i was able to get a real upgrade for my ewallet data, I didnt liek it as much, and when I got the upgraded software for ewallet it was able ot read and update from my old ewallet data so nothign was lost, pictures adn everything were intact.... so I vote ewallet over code wallet

I use code wallet pro and like it a lot. Developer One is a pretty good company. They seem to have a knack for releasing solid software that doesn't need bug fixes.

The desktop version is a big help. I keep a copy on my Axim and a copy on my laptop. It gives me two ways to get to the info, and automatically makes sure data is always backed up.

The only caveat is in the documents, but it's only a hint. Code Wallet Pro uses file synchronization to keep the two copies the same. In other words, if you modify one entry in the laptop and a different entry in the Axim, then try to synchronize, ActiveSynch will tell you that both files are modified, and ask you what to do. When this happens, you get to decide which update to throw away. This is different than Outlook, which looks inside the Outlook database and updates each entry separately.

Of course, Code Wallet Pro is the one I started with and the only one I have used. Most people end up liking what they use, unless there's a problem. So take my advice with a grain of salt.

One of the questions I would like to know more about is the quality of the encryption. Code Wallet Pro uses a "variant" of RC4 to encrypt, which means we don't really know the algorithm used or how secure it is. Also, I don't know how well the password is hidden. Anybody know of a good comparison of security for these programs?

Do any of the password programs for PocketPC allow you to import files from other password programs? I've noticed that ewallet and flexwallet allow you to export their files, but I'm interested in finding something that will allow me to easily import the 300 or so entries I have in password agent (which allows me to save the data file in the comma delimited format). Entering that many records into flexwalet and ewalet using copy-and-paste is tremendously time-consuming.

i use a flat text file and then use lucifer to encrypt it.

i prefer to have my important information stored in a non-proprietary format.

i chose lucifer for encryption because it's free and it comes with the source code.

I'm using flex wallet -- works fine and the price was less than $5.00
and that includes the desktop version for easy data input.

Back when I was a Palm user, B) I used a program called CryptInfo that I really liked and I noticed that they have it for the Pocket PC also but I have not yet tried it on my Axim. It isn't as graphical as eWallet, but you can import and export to flat file and it had a desktop interface as well.

I see it for Palm and the PC, but not for the PPC? Do you have a link for the PPC version?

I lied (it seems). I went back and realized that I misread. Sorry about that. Scratch this one off of your Christmas lists. Sorry to get your hopes up. I loved it on my Palm, but alas, I will probably just go with one of the others suggested here. Thanks for the info on all the other options out there.
