PocketWeather V1.00.05 = Hard RESET!!!!
Ok guys just giving out an FYI
downloaded the trial version 1.00.02 for the last few days and worked like a charm. Decided to purchase software and downloaded newest version V1.00.05 from their site. Well now it is official (after the 2nd hard reset do to installation errors at the end of PW install - right before the vga icons). X50v and PW .05 do not mix well. Beware if you are thinking about installing newest version. Oh and as always BACKUP!

Hi Pazul :)
I'm really sorry for all the trouble, actually PW will work fine on VGA devices when installed to the main memory - should be installed using the CAB file.
We are working right now to fix this and I hope to have better news in a few hours :approve:
Again - I'm terribly sorry for all the trouble :(

Ahhhh... I had 1.00.02 running with success... then upgraded to 1.00.05 and found that it didn't update its weather reports anymore despite the fact that I had a stable WiFi connection. So I uninstalled it again. Seems I was lucky considering what could have happened...
Keep in mind that it is still beta (right?).

Nope, not in beta anymore. I have to say though that if Amit says they will have a fix shortly, then they will have a fix shortly. SBSH is the MOST responsive company that I have ever bought software from. They monitor these and other boards and when someone has a problem they respond with an answer or fix right away. they let me in on the beta and I bought the product as soon as it was released. they have good products and i highly recommend them. :approve:

I had the same problem...I wish I had read your post first. I'm not sure what trial version I tried to install (twice), but I ended up having to do 2 hard resets as well. What a pain. I have now backed up everything to built in storage using the backup utility. Question: will I lose this as well from a hard reset? My understanding is that a hard reset puts the Axim back to its original state, is that correct? Thank you.

Dave, I agree that the company is very good. Amit and someone else returned my email within hours. Unfortunately, I'm unwilling to risk another installation attempt, followed by another hard reset!

Until SBSH put's out a fix you can do this. If you have the install program for PW v1.00.00 or v1.00.02, install that first, then upgrade/install 1.00.05. You won't have any problems then. From what I read on the SBSH forum, it is only a problem if you install v1.00.05 without first having installed one of the earlier releases. I believe there is a link to the earlier versions in the SBSH Pocket Weather Forum. I also just noticed that v1.00.06 is available on the SBSH forum, not sure if the issue above is resolved in the new release.

Their release notes: "Corrected memory allocation error which causes all the hard-reset issues" and at least one user on the forum related that this issue is fixed in 1.00.06. You can read about it and download here:

With Pocketweather, do you need to have a wifi connection to update or will it update when Synced to a PC with an active internet connection?

Just wanted to mention that the hard reset issue with version 1.0.05 that was discussed in the beginning of this thread was fixed a long time ago and the latest version today is 1.0.13 :approve:
It can be downloaded from the following post:

Cheers :)
