Are there any free niv bibles out there. i have used olivetree and esword, and neither have a free niv or nlt version of bible. Are there any free niv bibles...maybe an ebook???

You can get audio for the whole NIV bible here: http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/audio/?source=3 . Requires RealPlayer, so I'm not sure if you can stream it onto your Axim - haven't tried it myself.

Axim or no, this is the entire NIV fantastically read by professional actor Max McLean, available for free online.

I don't believe it's free since the NIV people still have the copyright. NIV is not yet public domain. I think I paid $10 for my copy...don't remember where though...

Zondervan still owns the copyright on the NIV tramslation. If you find a free NIV text file, you can bet its illegal.

they have an allowance within the copywrite to allow for a certain amount of chapters, but thats it unfortunately. many other versions are free however, some easier to read and better translated.

eSword rocks! I have it on PDA and PC. As far as I've been able to find, both NIV and Amplified (the translation I'm looking for) are not free. I think Zondervan/Kirkbride has both and charge licensing fees to obtain them. The Biblesoft version of Amp is 24 dollars US.

Esword gives us so much for *free* it's almost a priviledge to give something for at least *one* of the translations.
