Virus Program

Need to know how many people are using a virus program on their pda. What is the name of your program? Which one's are good?

Please post in the correct fourms. Thanks :)

I don't use AV. There are no wild PPC viruses and I'm confident that with common sense I'll be able to avoid them if they do appear. IMHO it's paranoia.

Working in a very sensitive data driven industry, Medical, I use Symantec Antivirus for Handhleds. I have the autoupdate on it just like I do my desktop. While I agree wth howard2k that at this time there have been no real bad viruses for PPC, I know that in my field we at least 100 to 150 new users of PDA's a day. I believe its only a matter of time before viruses begin to show up on PPC.

And I should add (not wanting to sound like Mr 640Kb) common sense I feel is a good enough deterrent for now. Not forever. :)

I'm sure they day will come when running AV on a PDA will be more important.

I use eTrust Antivirus from Computer Associates. My IT department supports my PDA so they require that I have virus protection. The program has detected a few.

Which ones? Were they genuine viruses or false positives?

I don't know. Currently I have one that I can not delete, wmppc.html. It is identified as a Trojan. Everytime I try and delete it says that it can not be deleted.

If it's HTML you should copy it to the PC and drop it in notepad and see what it really is.

I did some digging and there are a couple of really tame viruses. Two related ones and a third. Didn't seem that any of them were agressively self replicating though.

Didn't come across wmppc.html.

i use the free av/firewall software from www.airscanner.com

i know that there is no immediate threat, but i surf open wifi networks at a college campus...you can never be too careful.

the software is 100% free for personal use, so as i see it, there's nothing to loose.
