What is Resco File Explorer

I'm a newbie and heard the Resco File Explorer is something worth looking into for my x50v. What is this program? Does it take the place of the File Explorer already on the Axim?

Read about it here:

http://www.resco-net.com/explorer.asp

It's a very nice file explorer with many more features and functions than the file explorer included with your x50v.

Basil, I believe you will find the Resco explorer to be a vast improvement over the built-in file explorer. I use its ftp plugin a lot! :approve:

Thanks for the info. A few more quick questions:

1. Is it easy to set up for someone like me who is familiar with PC a little (but a Mac user), but still relatively intelligent?

2. After I install it, do I then delete the Files Explorer program that came with the Axim?

3. Can they both stay installed until I'm comfortable with Resco?

4. If I buy it, do I download it directly to my Axim, or to my laptop and then sync it over.

thanks.

I use the Resco File Explorer and CEdit to maintain websites at home and scripts at work. With the ability to access network shares and FTP sites, it is great. It was the first piece of software I purchased (with the Resco Photo Viewer at the same time) for the Dell.

To answer your questions:
1. It is very easy to set up. and there are plenty here to help with specific questions regarding setup.

2. No, you do not need to delete File Explorer that came with it. I believe you can't, as it is in ROM.

3. They coexist very nicely. I have not run File Explorer since installing Resco.

4. Buy it, download it to your laptop, then run the install from there - it will automatically transfer to the Axim (as long as you have it connected to the laptop).

If you are interested, you should try out the demo. A cheaper alternative would be to try Advanced Explorer.

There is also a free copy on your Axim CD. Look in the OEM folder, then Apps, then Handango, and I forget the last folder... you'll find it.

Can I download it to my Mac and then sync from there? That is, will it download to a Mac? I'm synching very nicely with Missing Sync.

Are you sure it's free or a trial? (I believe there is a free copy of the Resco viewer, however.) If it's just a trial, it's best you get it from the developer's site to ensure you are getting the latest version.

Total Commander and GSFinder+ are both *excellent* FREEWARE alternatives to the mess that is the built-in File Explorer. TC even has dual pane support. Personally, I use all three, those two and Resco.
