Is there a program like NEVO that can be used on the Dell AXIM series?

I demoed PDA Win, Total Remote and one other on my X50V. Althought PDA Win had adequate range (about 10-12 feet), it's range was noticably shorter than the other two.

None were any comparison to Nevo, IMO, for ease of use and out of the box useability. I have Nevo on my hp2215 and is the main reason I haven't sold it on Ebay yet.

Nevo is a little more limited in the devices it can control, but, from an ease of use standpoint, the other apps seem much more like science projects than actual useable applications, while Nevo just works.

Sorry, last call was 15 minutes ago.

Range isn't determined by the Program, but by your Device's Ir Output LEDs and the power available to "push" the signal out.

If you have an X5, then you need to get a CF Ir Extender Card. All other Axim Models have both IrDA and Consumer Ir LEDs and have plenty of output ability.

I can point my X5 w/PDAwin (and an Extender), 180° away from my HT (at a plain-jane white plaster wall..........line-of-sight I get 30', easy) and it still controls everything, without flaw.

On the other hand, if your batt is low, the Ir signal will be weak. Kinda like a flashlight in it's death-throes.

Nevo uses a special CIR module of the iPAQ.

I agree with you in theory, but I was just relaying my experience with the three apps I tried. Also, I don't believe the X50V has a CIR (no mention of it in dell specs), but the IR port does have sufficient power to serve as a remote.

yup - copied nevo across, got it to run but it would spit it when trying to learn, but seemed to at least operate ok with the builtin predefined appliances. i cant test these as none match my own stuff, but i would assume it probably doesn't work anyways.... may try "learning" with the ipaq, and tthen copy config files over... am i wasting my time?

pdawin is the best in my mind since it can be used and works well with ccf skins....(the same the prontos use, etc.)

ccf skins can make your remote look awsome and work great :)

YEs. NEVO uses a proprietary CIR chip. Axim does not have it.
