Pocket Informant Contacts does not accept changes

Hi,

I use Pocket Informant 5.6.0.0175 and since one week or so, I cannot change any contact details on my Axim any more (it might have started after the ROM update for the x50v...).

So what happens is the following: I open the contact details, make changes click either on ok in the upper right corner or on the green check check mark in the lower left corner and then the "wait cursor" in the middle of the screen turns up and it starts moving around. Unfortunately this thing does not stop any more. I usually cancel the process through a soft reset after some minutes, which is rather annoying, to say it politely.

What do I have to do to convice PI to accept changes in the contacts?

I already posted this question on the PI forum but without any response yet.

Can you make any other changes? Is it just contacts? You could always try to reinstall PI.

Try a soft reset

Thanks for the answers (and for the shift into another forum).

It is just in contacts, where I have this problem. I tried several soft resets (it is the way I stop the process).

I will try out to re-install Pocket Informant.

Thanks!

Does the problem occur if you use the built-in contacts app?

Hm, it is really strange. The new installation did not help. When I e.g. want to assign categories (which work perfectly for the tasks) for a contact, the system just hangs up. The wait cursor just does not stop circulating... but it also ends in a hanging system, when I want to add the employer.

When I use the usual contacts application, I do not experience this problem.

What do I do wrong?

Well... if it were me:

First make sure you have the most recent version. Second, uninstall the old one, and then use a registry editor and a file explorer to rip out any left over pieces by the roots. Then try installing again.

Hm, If I would already be so familiar with the registry, I would probably opt for this. But since I am not (yet), I will delete and then reinstall PI on the weekend. Maybe this helps. I am sure that I have their latest copy of the program, so this should not be the problem.

So, I managed to find some time over the weekend to re-install Pocket Informant (made sure to install the latest available version) but then I did not test it - for whatever reason (hang over, spending time at the pool etc.). Then some minutes ago, I remembered that I need to add a new contact (nice guy, I met at a party on Saturday, which caused the lack of time to test the re-installation...).

The facts: I still cannot add or change any contact on my Axim!

I would very much appreciate, if someone could tell me what I do wrong. Maybe, there are some conflicts with the other software?
On my Axim there is the following software:
Pocket Informant
Adobe Reader 2.0
BetaPlayer
Check Notifications
Converter CE
Data Viewer
ezyUnZIP
FastCleanup
HandyShpr
MiniStumbler
PhatNotes
Pocket10B Plus
PocketTV
Presentation Mobile Player
Presentation Player
psHutXp
SE_VGA
SpaceFinder
TascalRegEdit
vBar
WolfClock
XnView
StreetHawk
WiFiFoFUm
plus all the other pre-installed software.

Have you posted on their user forums? I didn't have this problem when I upgraded the rom, but maybe someone else did and a fix is already up?

I did post in their forums but nobody replied. Today I contacted their support team. I hope they have an answer.

Interestingly this also happened to a friend of mine with his trial version that he used in January on his x30.

Just to close this thread. WebIS Support send me an link with their latest versions of Pocket Informant 5.6 (uploaded on the 15th February 2005) and after downloading, installing and testing, I cannot find any problems any more. I can make changes in the contacts again!
