Wisebar Advanced 2

Anyone use the new Wisebar advanced 2? What do you think about it as a today screen add on?

I love it personally. Its well worth the money. You should look into Dashboard by Snoopsoft as well. The two programs compliment each other very well and together make using your PPC much easier. Not to mention your today screen is much more useful and nicer looking.

I have asked Chris at Lakeridge Software if WBA2 should be installed in main memory and he says it works fine in BIS. That is where mine is located - works great. :approve:

I like i, because you can really feel like it's YOUR PPC.
And it works in VGA which is great.
But I don't tend to use any other today plugins (Dashboard, Weatherpanel, SPB pocket+), because they REEEAAAALLY slow down my machine!

So people with X50vs are actually using WA2? What version? In reading the Wisbar forums, I get the impression that there are many X50v-specific problems with the last release and that the beta versions are very unstable.

I use the latest Beta version which is 2.0.1.14. If you own a copy of Wisbar Advance, you can download and install this version. I don't think there is a "trial" of the Beta versions, but I am not sure. You can only get this from the form sight at www.lakeridgesoftware.com.

This version works great on my x50v. The writer of the program works really hard to keep new versions and fixes coming out. So, even if there is a slight problem, I stick with it. The product is very good (is a very good idea) and the support is excellent. So, if there is an issue, it will always be checked out and fixed.

There was a problem with the .10 - .12 versions on an x50v. There was "smearing" when the cascading setup menu was used. But, I do not seem to have that problem anymore.

Hope this helps.

Actually, the current version is 2.0.1.15. I visit the forums regularly, and I have been reading about serious problems with the last several beta versions. It sounds like you are lucky if everything is working because most beta users appear to be struggling with many issues.

Yep, your right - Chris just updated. I just downloaded the .14 two days ago.
Can't wait to see what's new.

IMO, you're exaggerating a bit. 'Serious problems'..... most problems posted are minor in nature, and Chris is very good about addressing these promptly. 'Lucky if everything is working'...... luck has nothing to do with it. There are typically small bugs in beta versions, and they are different for each user depending upon the device and apps installed. Major conflicts, more often than not, are operator caused. 'Most users appear to be struggling'..... Most users are assisting Chris in troubleshooting the beta version bugs and posting on the forum to assist in the software development.

The simple fact is that these are 'beta' releases and as such are expected to have some small bugs. I've been using every beta release on my x50v since ver .10 with NO major issues. Bugs, yes. Great software support? yes

In that case, I'd encourage anyone considering the use of WA2 to first visit the Lakeridge Software forums and read about the problems others have been having. I've been waiting for over a month for many of the issues you'll read about to be fixed.
