When I tried to execute the exe file within the zip, the following error occurred: hp48.exe was not compiled for a CPU with this version of Windows; Please contact vendor for update (PC at home is PIII 933 Mhz running Win 98SE).

Additionally, when I select the GNU EMU48CE icon on the x5, the program flashes for about 0.5 seconds and then returns to the Program window without fully executing the program.

I attempted to follow the earlier advice in this thread given as "After you download this, all you have to do is copy the emu48ce2003 program file (HP48.exe) and replace the older emu48ce program with the new HP48.exe file, where ever you have it installed. " Without being able to execute the hp48.exe file, where do I go from hete??!

All the contents of the zip file should be unzipped and placed on your ppc in the same directory as emu48 overwriting the original executable. The patch is not a Windows program, but just the Pocket PC program.

Ok- I should have known that already, but the early morning hour does not lend itself to clear thinking when I need to get up by 6:30 a.m. in order to arrive at work. A few questions, however, do remain and while the answers maybe within this site, I was not readily able to get the individual answers so here it goes:

1.)Dell Axim x5 utilizes a X-Scale processor. Is an X-Scale processor same as an ARM processor? The importance of the question is that the E48MB105 file from http://privat.swol.de/ChristophGiesselink/ works with PC2002 or Windows Mobile 2003 SE. My x5 advanced has just Windows Mobile 2003 (Rom A05). Additionally, install directions within this thread were based upon X50 Axim and I'm not sure of its processor type.

2.)Provided that the processor issued addressed above is not a factor, then I will follow the install directions provided in the E48mb105 text file which I have outlined in a similar format below:

a.)Emu48 for Pocket PC is a replacement for the binaries of Emu48CE. If it is installed, then it should be uninstall it
Goto "Start/Settings/Tab System/Remove Programs"
Select "GNU Emu48ce HP49G"
Press the button "Remove"

b.)For installing the new version copy the file Emu48.ARM.CAB with the ARM versions of Emu48 and MkShared to your Pocket PC 2002 or 2003 device please. Calling this CAB archive on your PDA will install these two programs on "\\ProgramFiles\Emu48" or your language specific equivalent. This is the same directory
where Emu48CE was installed in by default.

c.)Install the KML packages you want into this same directory refering to the "Emu48CE_vs_PC2002.txt" document for these necessary changes.

d.)Install, if it's not already done by installing the KML script, the ROM image(s).

If I have missed something, please let me know. If the question posed in 1.) above is not a factor, then I will proceed with the steps in 2 a-d. Look forward to the response!!!

Ahhh, nothing like burning up those AAA's, and the high-pitched singing of the motherboard...Can't emulate that now, can we?

I’ve just published my FULL roundup & tutorial on emulating HP’s calculators at http://www.aximsite.com/boards/emula...ws-mobile.html - don’t forget to check it out.

Also note that I’ve previously published a FULL roundup & tutorial on using TI’s calculators at http://www.aximsite.com/boards/appli...ws-mobile.html - it’s also worth checking out.

(Sorry for the flood – I want all interested parties to take note of these articles. They’re well worth reading, I think.)
