Hello Friends!

I just wanted to warn you that the GRIFFIN TOTAL REMOTE http://www.griffintechnology.com/griffinmo...le/totalremote/
does NOT work with the Dell Axim!!

I contacted the company after it's purchase, only to find that the Axim isn't supported. I have two of them, and it didn't work on either of them (not the IrDA port OR the Griffin Remote Module.)

So, be careful with what you get, not everything is compatible with our favorite little device. ;)

Best Wishes,
Chris

When this was written, it was true. Total Remote (and every other remote control app) doesn't work worth a damn through the built-in IrDA port, and due to the "poor" quality audio port our clever audio transmitter cannot possibly work.

Now that the Axim X3 is shipping some of the more astute among you may have noticed that we are on the X3's CD, offering a special Dell-specific trial version. We worked closely with Dell regarding the old X5 problems, and they were very receptive to our help in improving the IrDA support. The X3 works to ~35 feet, as tested by myself and Dell's engineers, so we now support Total Remote on the X3 via IrDA. Dell did not address concerns about the quality of the audio port, so our audio transmitter still will not work, but at least X3 users have a valid option in using the new and improved IrDA port.

What about the T.R. LED module?

Does that work with the Axim X3i?

Let me be clear:

Griffin now supports TR when used on a X3.

ANY X3 will do.

IrDA on ANY X3 seriously kicks a$$ over the X5's IrDA output.

Dell still uses audio hardware that is incompatible with our audio transmitter. Perhaps that will change in the future, but I doubt it because Dell has no real reason to bother (music sounds just fine).

TR comes on the X3 CD, so it is pretty safe to say that Griffin and Dell got our stuff straight months and months ago, and are now the best of friends/partners. They tested TR to work on IrDA to a distance of at leat 35 feet. I get the same numbers in my testing.

Does that help clarify things any?

I just installed this software yesterday and it instantly the Sony DVD profile worked with my DVD player. I haven't yet gotten my TV or digital cable box working (however the brands of TV and cable boxes I own are supported in multiple pre-programmed profiles). I actually meant to come onto this board and ask for help with that... anyone have any experience programming Griffin Remote?
