well e sword is free so the only cost is your time.

Might be worth seeing if you can get a demo version of the others, or email the developer

With all Bibles, it usually doesn't matter what version you read, as long as you read it, think on what you read, make connections between what you read and your own life, and then apply that knowledge into action in your life.
I've been using Laridian a long time as my primary PDA Bible software (also use E-Sword) and they did come out with a new version of the Bible reader that's VGA compatible. I think it runs very nice though a bit expensive. I also like their scripture memory program and Daily Reader. What I really like about E-Sword is ISBE's Bible Encyclopedia (old edition but free) and several language translations. I tried Olve Tree and liked that too but Laridian's still my favorite. I also like some of their commentaries when I have unscheduled teaching/preaching on the road. Anyway, Just my 2 cents. =D

I'm pretty sure Laridian is compatible since they update their reader so frequently (or if it's not, it will be soon). They're very good about that. E-Sword is risk free.

So your saying that you can get the Catholic bible (NRSV:CE) on e-sword ?... I've looked and I can't seem to find it in the list. Is it actually available?

It looks like esword has the Douay-Rheims version of the Bible, which is a Catholic version. It was written a little after the King James, and has the same sort of style to it as the KJV. There is also the Latin Vulgate available, which was Saint Jerome's translation. This continues to be the definitive Catholic translation, and I would probably use it if I knew my Latin better!

Personally, I use isilo, available at www.isilo.com. There is an RSV version of the Bible with dueterocanonicals in isilo format available at www.memoware.com, as well as the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The great thing about isilo is you can use the free desktop version to capture any web page and set it to follow the links to a specified depth. So what I did was go to the US Catholic Bishops website and captured the entire NAB with isilo. Also went to the Vatican's website and captured all of Pope John Paul II's encyclicals! Isilo is not free though, it is 20 bucks, but worth it for offline reading with hyperlinks.

I, too, use OliveTree. I, too, could not remove eSword and had to do a hard reset to clear it.

I did use Laridian, but found Esword to be fine and Free !
Laridian costs for each bible also, so with Esword I have 5 bible versions available plus a daily reader adn eaton and webster dictionaries in it too !

I'll agree its a little slower on my ipaq 5455 than the laridian software, but its not unberable, and once the apps opened, its as fast as laridian.

Another e-Sword user here, cause it's free. I use it on my PDA, and notebook PC, but I also use QuickVerse on my notebook.

BigBrett,
I've used Laridian on my Palm devices for years. I also used the Laridian program on my previous x30h. My x51v is on the way and I'm going to go with the Laridian PocketBible again. You can download a free trial to see if you like it but it only has the KJV. My regular Bible is the NIV so I have to go where I can get it. The company is helpful and kind. I also noticed that they have a special deal on right now for 15% off with certain purchases. Check them out! http://www.laridian.com/ce/default.asp :approve:

I used laridian on my Casio E-100 (WInCE 2.11) and it has been great on my X50mid. It was the only software I paid for on that machine (freeware for the rest). Laridian offer a good selection and they offer updgrades due to OS changes for a much smaller price that the original price. They periodically offer via email great discounts to new works that come out for exhisiting customers.

I also have E-sword that I rarely use. It just takes to long to load compared to the Laridian. I have not used Olive since WinCE 2.11. All I remember is that I did not care for it compared to Laridian.
