Question:
I've never tried the virtual desktop thingee b4 cuz I was too lazy to mess with any security, Network, IP, Port, .....blah blah blah configuration stuff, but now I'm also too lazy to carry my laptop around.
Can someone give me a straight forward, instruction on how to setup PTnvc 2 software after installation?
It asked me for my Host:Port. I don't even know what that is?
Also if you can another straight forward instruction for Z2Remote. I plan on trying that out to compare for myself.

Host is the internal network IP of the computer you want to connect to with your PPC. you can find the IP by opening command prompt on your PC, typing "ipconfig" and then pressing "enter". Note the "IP Address", this is your "Host". You can try 0 for port. So for example if your Host is 192.168.0.2, you should type 192.168.0.2:0 on PTvnc 2 and connect (of course your PC must be running the VNC server at this time).

I tried it! It worked! I was excited for about 5 Seconds. 10 seconds later I already discovered 4 problems.
1. I can't read the screen... too blurry.
2. When I change the screen resolution it disconnects.
3. I can't hear any sounds.
4. Starting the program takes too long. I don't want to worry about the remembering the IP address after a hard reset.
I need solutions to all this problems. Other than that I love this program... or at least the concept of it.
Cool! I think the solution to your problems is logmein.com. Its easy to install/connect and its free too. You can easily change screen res, color depth etc.

Installing logmein now...
I'm starting not to like the idea of logmein. It looks like something I have to use by passing through some company's server to get on my own computer. I feel exposed enough going through the public WiFi without having to add another middle man before getting to my computer. Not being paranoid or anything. But what is their server shuts down?
Oh yeah by the way I ran into more problems with this PTvnc thing I'm about to throw away. I can't log out, or type anything. If log me in is the only thing that will let me hear the sounds on my computer then maybe I'll have to surrender to it.
I can't find the "add computer" option on tne logmein.com when I'm surfing with my PPC. How do i add my PPC?
I tried the z2 R2PC at school but couldn't get on my computer from there. I'm assuming I have to use DynDNS to do that does that mean I have to pay yearly for a domain? If so does yahooSBC provide free domains for their customers.
I refuse to pay for both software and service at the same time. Is it not enough that I'm paying to use internet?
Electric bills, phone bills, cable bills, water bills, internet bills, eating bills, talkings bills, permission to talk bills, permission to get "permission to talk bills"... where does it end?
1. register at logmein.com
2. download and install their software on your PC (you'll be given the option to add your PC)
3. make sure logmein server is running on your PC
4. on your PPC open PIE (make sure you are connected to the internet)
5. go to logmein.com
6. login and you'll see your computer name
7. choose remote control to control/view your desktop.
(logmein can capture videos)

Nice... but where's the sound? What can I do to make the video play smoothly?
Terminal Service Client
PT vnc2<-------------------- Rubish
z2 R2PC
logmein
I need a long list of similar programs. Any that exists and will work with a PPC(execpt ones that are not in English). I want to test them all!
So far I think I'll manage logmein till I can find something better.
BTW, you don't get sound through VNC connections and the video is only gonna be as good as the worse of the two video adapters.
Hey do you go to OU?
Anyways, I'm kinda unsatisfied with logmein now. I need a software that will also enable me to switch my computer on remotely when it is completely turned off.
