Extract CAB from EXE
Several PPC programs I purchased have an EXE installation program that's run on the ACtiveSync PC. Is there anyway to extract the CAB from the EXE so that I can manually copy this to the Axim and run it at another time?

I don't think that there is, but I have found a way to get some of the CAB files I need from EXE installers. After they have installed it's worth a look in your \program files\microsoft activesync folder as some installers put sub-directories there with backups of the CAB files in case they need to be re-installed.
it's also worth checking your \program files directory itself as some other installers make a directory there and place the CAB file in it.
Hope that this helps,

Okay, thanks. I'll poke around on my hard drive and see how many CAB files I can find. I was thinking of creating a \Cabs folder on my SD Card so that I have an archive of all PPC programs I use in case they need to be reinstalled.

That's exactly what I have done - just remember to make sure you have a text note somewhere of the registration codes! It's also not the easiest thing to do, to try and copy'n'paste a registration code from a text note into an app's registration screen, so make sure you also have a pen and paper handy ;-)

Yep, I call it the "Puttin' on the brakes" method. Start the .exe installer, then when it asks where you want to install it (Main Mem, BIS, or Storage Card), hit cancel. Then, navigate to folder where it extracted the files (this is usually displayed at the very beginning of the install), and you will find the cab file.

Is there a place that allows you to download just cab files?

There's no " CAB library" that I know of, but a lot of software web sites have specific CAB downloads instead of the full installer - sometimes you need to hunt around the download pages to find it though.
