Do you have the latest version of Weather Panel installed?
That made a difference for me, although Weather Panel still doesn't like to play completely with the VGA screen of the X50.
@Choirguy: Really? I'm not having a problem at all with WP on my X50v. What issues are you having?
@beezel: Sounds like entirely too many issues to be coincidental! Somethings wrong in your set-up. How many Today screen plug-ins are installed on your X50? Not how many are selected as active, but how many total entries are there that can be checked off on the Settings>Today>Items screen?
I was having problems with the display behind the various graphs...
I did some research tonight, and Weather Panel is full VGA compliant.
If you don't have a VGA theme loaded, the image "behind" the graphs becomes skewed, and that was the problem.
Load a VGA theme, and no more issues.
In other words, Weather Panel automatically resizes the background as it is running.
I also had issues when Weather Panel jumped versions...I could no longer update information. A simple update of the program solved that issue.
Gotcha, Choirguy. Plus, I don't really know if anyone is having a problem using true VGA displays with WP. I'm back to using the regular VGA that came preconfig'd on my X50; the "big but pretty" version!
I've gotten caught up with the update issues after installing a new version, also, but it was only with one update for me. Can't remember which version that was. Latest one is working really great for me now, especially with some of the custom layouts some folks are posting there.
Is this somehow related to the Weather Panel display on the X50 Today screen?
Or just a general rant?
No - this is a known issue with the code in Wisbar Advanced2. The author is working on it. It only affects Axim's so far according to the author. Specifically where it hangs, is at this point: You select the Dell WLAN Utility and select settings from that menu, when the Configure Wireless Networks window pops up it does a get_string in C code. For some reason Dell keeps on refreshing the data output and overflows the get_string request. At least that's what the author seems to think is happening but he can't quite put his finger on it yet cuz we're on the 2nd or 3rd beta fix for it, and still doesn't work. It will require a soft reset at this point if you don't back out of wisbar before attempting to mess with the network settings. All this is posted on the wisbar forum under "network settings locks up on Dell Axim X50's" (or something close to that).

Not really concerned, MetalHead.
My point was that this thread was a question about a problem with WeatherPanel on the X50 screen. So why has WA2 become an issue here? Is Wisbar Advance somehow causing WeatherPanel to render incorrectly on beezel's Today screen? That is what he asked for help with. I don't think that WA2 has anything to do with it. Unless, of course, I'm missing something here about a connection between these two issues.
It seems you do have a valid concern, but then why write about a Wisbar Advance 2 problem in a thread about WeatherPanel?
You may want to find or start a thread about the WA2 issue! :)
(BTW, an FYI - You don't really have to soft reset in the meantime; try tapping on the SIP selector & then Options - you can then go anywhere you want without performing a soft reset! :approve: )
@Metalhead or anyone else with the problem, turn off window titles and your problems will go away. It is the known workaround until Chris gets it fixed.
I recently re-did my Axim yesterday and noticed that the "latest" WP beta wasn't showing up when installed after Pocket Plus. I removed Pocket Plus, then installed WP first and set up it's today plugin. After that was done and working, I proceeded to do Pocket Plus next and all was well. YMMV.
I have all 3 installed and they work fine. Only problem I had was with the last version of Wisbar...the newer one works well and is stable...WeatherPanel hasn't given me any problems since I demoed it...it worked the smoothest and I bought it for that reason...what else do you have running besides those 3?
I had mega-problems with calligrapher and the 3...I'm waiting for them to update that and i'll reinstall it....handwriting was better with it but it didn't play well with others.
