On Aximsite, this is not allowed at all. In general, there are some licencing issues involved that I believe make it illegal or at least a very grey area.
I've never quite understood this policy. If you buy a licensed music CD or film on DVD, it's not illegal to watch it and then sell it to someone else. With software, I don't see why it's any different, as long as you're selling the original
disc/documentation and agreeing to uninstall any copies you previously used.
In fact, in America at least, I would think the courts would protect the right of an individual to dispose of his property as he sees fit-- that's one of the rights of ownership (indeed one of the definitions of ownership, I was taught).
I'm not particularly hot over this issue, so this isn't a raving complaint or anything. But I would like to know the truth about transferring software legally. Any intellectual property attorneys out there?

I can understand aximsite having a policy. On the illegal issue, ...I am not so sure it is illegal to sell a 'licensed' program.

I agree.
Hot or not hot about it. I'm not talking about anything other than a fully licensed product,...even registered. I know a number of years ago I got a 'transfer' of license from Adobe on one of their products. Here's one scenario, one that I was just looking at, ...you buy a new/used x50v,...the original owner has a number of licensed software pgrms. on it,....they are transferable....right?
If you buy and sell a Dell Axim, the warranty transfers to the new owner,....why? ....state laws! (pardon if it is federal, ..I'm certainly no attorney) Same as you mentioned on music, and it goes for cars as well.

Gigi, I think you did a diservice by moving this over to 'apps'....by assuming it is illegal. This is NOT an 'apps' thread post,...it is a general post and should be in general discussion. You have moved it to a place that guarantees it will be hidden, and I don't think that serves the purpose of this site.
-- no offense intended.

No offence taken. I don't think my assumption of whether or not it is legal/illegal has anything to do with location to which I moved the thread. Your question was related to apps and as such, belongs in the Apps forum. The proper place of a thread should have absolutely nothing to do with how much traffic that particular forum gets, or else everything would be posted in the X50 Forum! Anyway, if you wish, I could move this to the Water Fountain, if you would like to have more of a general discussion of it. What do you think?
